Percabeth A to Z

B-Broadway

No one paid Percy any attention as he sang, poorly at that, in front of the Water Wall just around the corner from Broadway. He stood on the railing that kept people from falling close to the pool at the bottom of the endless waterfall with his legs spread apart as if he were center stage. Annabeth laughed as he tried to hit the higher notes, raising his arms as he got louder and louder, towards the end of the song.
“Watch and you’ll see! Someday I’ll be,” He inhaled so deeply that someone glanced over to see what was wrong with him. “A PART OF YOUR WORLD.”

Annabeth laughed and, jokingly, covered her ears. He looked back at her, smiling, and she waved. He hopped off the railing and strode over to the blonde. She stood a few feet behind where he had stood, outside of the splash zone, but near enough to see the wicked look in the waterproof boy’s eyes as he sang. When they left Broadway, Percy couldn’t help himself. He was delighted by the musical.

“I give it an eleven out of ten.”

“Didn’t the water look real?!”

“This is so great, I’m glad you came.”

He had started his theatrics after they had walked three blocks to the water wall. At first he had hummed, and then he sang softly and before long he was bellowing flat notes and off-tune lyrics.

Percy was graceful with a sword and coordinated in battle but the boy seriously couldn’t dance; he settled with spinning where the water fell onto the peach painted concrete with his arms wide. Annabeth was amazed with his delight at the musical and if it weren’t for the fact that he hadn’t gotten wet, Annabeth would have thought they were normal teenagers on a normal date.

He suddenly sprung forward, snapping her out of her thoughts, and grabbed her hands. She laughed as Percy swung the two around, like they were playing ring around the rosy. An older couple, in their thirty’s probably, looked disapproving at the distraction they caused. Percy noticed the look too, apparently. Suddenly they were waltzing as the water fell around them.

He wore Converse with his suit, and Annabeth was glad she hadn’t bothered with heels. Mostly because of the spinning, she could imagine how painful it would be to break her ankle and hoped she never did. The height difference wouldn’t of changed either. He was so much taller now, he hadn’t lost his tan from their summer at camp, and the yellow light made his green eyes shine brighter.

In a surprising turn of events, Percy really could dance. In fact, he could lead and hold an entire conversation.

“You know, technically Ariel and I are family.” He spoke and then laughed slowly. “Trident’s my brother, and that makes her my niece.”

“Is that why you wanted to come to this?” Annabeth wondered aloud, and he spun her. She didn’t know where he learned to dance, he certainly hadn’t been this good during Paul and Sally’s wedding.

“No way, I wanted to have a real date.” He held her closely. Now they simply spun in tiny circles. “Think of it as a second first date.”

She snorted at the memory of a Cyclops barging in on their first date.

“Also I wanted to hear Sebastian’s exact words.” Annabeth scowled trying to think of what he meant. She noticed that they had stopped turning. Before she could make a comment about how cheesy he was, he leaned down and kissed her.

As she touched his hair, she noticed that it was wet.
