Wake Me Up When September Ends.
Summary
Our story starts with Thalia waking up after a night of great passion with Luke, her lover and travelling companion. After avoiding a storm and having her first food in days, they run into a small girl, Annabeth-- also a half blood. Luke makes a promise that they'll stay together; that he won't fail Annabeth and Thalia like their parents had.
Luke breaks that promise, though.
After Thalia has been brought back from being turned into a pine tree to avoid death, she learns that Luke has turned on the gods and now fights for Kronos.
Thalia feels betrayed, and after a quest with Percy, a new friend, kicks Luke off of Mount Tamalpais. Artemis' lieutenant, Zoe Nightshade, is killed, and she takes her place.
Thalia learns to live without men, though she never completely discards her love for Luke.
When Luke reaches his end, Thalia shatters inside, though she hides it from The Hunters and Artemis as well as she can.
How long can she pretend she doesn't care that the person she loves the most is dead?
"Here comes the rain again,
falling from the stars,
drenched in my pain again,
becoming who we are.
As my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost,
wake me up when September ends."
