GODS Are Called MYTHS For A Reason

I Fight With a God

After dinner was over, Percy led me to the Poseidon cabin. It was light and open with a few bunks, a little fountain with golden coins at the bottom, and freakin' live fish decorating the walls.
"I'll let you pick whichever bed you-"
"Percy!" a very loud, very excited voice yelled. I jumped as a large kid with larger muscles hugged Percy tightly. He was tall with crooked yellow teeth, crooked nose, a mop of messy dark hair, and a brown eye. Yep, a brown eye. I screamed.
"Naida, it's okay. This is Tyson, yeah, he's a Cyclopes. Tyson, this is Naida, our sister."
"Our?" I questioned. Tyson threw his arms around me, pulling me into a tight hug that nearly suffocated me.
"Poseidon's my daddy, too," he announced happily like it was the world’s biggest honor.
Okay, Tyson scared me to begin with, but he was really sweet and I instantly warmed up to him. But weren't Cyclopes supposed to be like, evil? Whatever. My brain would explode if I tried to figure out what was supposed to be real and what was just made up bull crap.
"It's nice to meet you, too, Tyson."
"Tyson," Percy interrupted, "have you seen Dad lately?"
"Yep, I just got back from his palace. Why?"
"Because I need to talk to him. C'mon, we’ll IM him."
"IM?" I muttered stupidly. "Why do you need to talk to him? And since when do gods have internet?"
"Look,” he sighed, “two years ago I made a deal with the gods that no demi-gods would be left unclaimed. I didn’t really expect all of them to keep that promise but you'd think that as my dad he'd at least keep the deal with me."
It clicked. "That's why you were hoping you were wrong, that Poseidon wasn't my father. And that's why you got pissed when you were right. He went back on the deal."
"I didn't do it on purpose," a deep voice grumbled out of nowhere. I jumped a mile high and let out a string of cuss words before I turned and saw a man in full-out fishing gear. Even with the ridiculous clothes, he still looked scary powerful, intimidating. The man had brown hair and green eyes. Percy actually looked a lot like him. My father, Poseidon.
“Whatever,” I muttered. “It doesn’t even matter.” I threw my duffels onto one of the bottom bunks and flopped down on the bed. I started digging through my bags for my mp3 player to drown out this conversation. After fifteen years of not knowing, I wasn't in the mood to listen to any of this.
“Naida, please listen. I went to tell you. You and your mother were living in Italy and I went to tell you, to claim you, but Amara wouldn’t let me. She said that she didn’t want either of you to have anything to do with the gods.”
“Well, she was right. Besides, if you’d only want me because of a deal you made with another one of your kids then I’d say you’re too late. Maybe I should just go.” I sat up and started to grab my bags again.
“Naida, it’s too late for that. Your mother wanted to keep you out of this but now that you know, the monsters will be coming after you. The Camp is the only safe place for you. Amara should have sent you here years ago instead of keeping you out in the open. It was dangerous and honestly, a little selfish.”
My eyes started to get misty but I didn’t wipe at them because I didn’t want to draw attention to them. “Don’t you dare put any of this on her,” I hissed. I missed my mother and I wasn’t about to let anyone, even a god, belittle her. “My mother is the bravest, most selfless person I know. Mom didn’t want you to claim me because I didn’t want you. I don’t care about who my father is. I gave up on you a long time ago, Poseidon. For my entire life, my mother has had to play both rolls- Mom and Dad. I don’t need you, not when I have her.”
“Naida-“
“Look, I’m tired. It’s been a long ass day and I just want to go to bed.” Okay, so it probably isn’t ever a good idea to cut off a god, but I didn’t want to hear anything from my “father”. Ugh, I couldn't even think the word without feeling like I was about to drawn in a wave of emotion.
Poseidon apparently got the message because he left, but not before shooting me a miserable look that made me feel guilty.
