Liam
It was a normal day at my school and I was staring out the window feeling bored and tired.
Not really listening to my math teacher, my friend Sandie was working beside me.
"Liam" She hissed at me "Your work?"
I made a grunting sound and ignored her, why bother? Math was so dull and every time I tried in class I just got even worse grades, I know, doesn't make sense right?
But I swear my math and English teachers had it in for me, they both hated me.
I couldn't wait to get out of this dump and go to my grandfather's work shop after this, I loved it there .
Just making things out of wood and the way I could bend metal into the fire, crafting it any shape I needed, I desired.
I never knew my dad and my mum died after a couple of months giving birth to me, I always wondered why my grandfather didn't hate me for it. Wouldn't his daughter be alive if it wasn't for me?
He just told me it wasn't my fault and whenever I asked him what happened to my dad, my grandfather would tell me that my dad had to go, he didn't want to but his boss woudn't let him see me and he was very busy at work.
The only way I even knew my dad was a small statue of New York my dad made me. It was tiny but every single detail was there. It could fit in my pocket it was so small.
And some nights I just stared at it wondering, wishing.
I'm originally from England but we moved to America a couple of years back. My grandfather told me that America reminded him of my parents the most because of all the times they spent here.
I asked if my dad was American but he told me he was Greek which was strange, I swear I didn't look Greek and why spend his time in New York?
My grandfather just told me my dads family lived in America and to stop asking questions and pay attention to what I was doing unless I wanted my fingers burned when I was doing metal work on the stove.
But I've never slipped up before but I usually follow his advice.
"Mr Payne! Pay attention!" my Math teacher barked giving me evil glares.
Sandie gave me an "I told you so" look.
I stared at the board willing it to make sense but all it did was make my dyslexia play up.
I sighed giving up, I was so bored and my ADHD was making me feel even more bored. I needed something to do!
Was it possible to die from boredom?
I soon found out it was quite possible to die of things like that after class.
My Math Teacher told me "Can I speak to you after class Liam?"
I nodded "Sure" I saw Sandie with a frightened expression on her face.
She started to make a phone call as she rushed out far to quickly for someone crippled.
But my life from then on was going to get very complicated.
