Snow Owl

The First Kill

I was running for my life. That dog was huge, I was doubting it was an actual dog. Without knowing where to run, I ran back inside. The few people, who weren't in class, panicked when they saw the huge dog. I heard a few screams and people were running out in horror. But the dog was focused on me. Those who had classes came out to see what it was. They did the same, scream and run in horror. I ran around a corner and bumped right into someone. "Sorry," I quickly said without knowing who it was. I got up and ran again. The dog appeared in my sight. It came from the other site of the hallway. I turned around and ran back where I came from. I could see Percy picking up his books. When I came to him, I grabbed his shirt to make sure he got away. He looked behind and stopped. "Oh no," He said. Oh no. That's all he had to say? Wow, this was one weird dude. He took up a pen from his pocket. Did he really think he could defend himself with a pen? He uncapped the pen and it grew into a sword. A sword. I blinked a few times. Yeah, it was still a sword. I looked at him. He looked like he was going to be sick. The dog came closer. When it almost reached us he took my arm and we hid behind some lockers. "Did your pen just turn into a sword?" I asked. Oh yeah let's just forget the giant dog. Percy looked at me. "You can see it?" I raised one of my eyebrows. "I am not blind, you know," I answered. "Is it after you?" He asked. Again I raised one of my eyebrows. Was it not obvious enough? "Yeah, it's after me," I said. He looked like he had just gotten an idea. "That explains a lot," He said nodding to himself. "Oh my," I give up, this dude is to hard to understand. "So did you just pull up your sword to make it scared or to kill it?" I asked, though it was still a bit hard to process that he had a sword, or a pen, or whatever. He looked like he was going to get sick again. "I suppose I have to," He said and we walked out from our hiding place. When the big dog saw us it ran straight towards us. Percy looked at it with soft eyes. I took his sword out of his hand and cut the dog in half when it came close enough. I closed my eyes. I didn't want to see the blood. Percy took the sword out of my hand, and I opened my eyes again. To my surprise there was no blood. Just dust. I looked up at Percy. What just happened? I think he got the message. "I'll explain later. Maybe we should call your mom," He said.

My mom didn't pick up the first time. The second time we got through. I explained to my mom what had happened. Percy just sat behind me. He was now holding a normal pen. After I had explained my mom didn't answer, it was like she was processing it. "Percy what kind of dog was that?" I asked him. He looked up at me. "Hellhound," His eyes glowed. "Most of them belong to Hades. Though I have one, of course a friendly one," He smiled. Wait, Hades? As in the God? Him with the flame hair? "Hades?" I asked. He couldn't expect me to believe in some God. "Yeah. God of the Dead, Wealth and Lord of the Underworld," Percy talked about it as if it was true, as if he'd meet this guy. "Okay I'm just gonna drop it," I said. I again focussed on my phone. "Mom you still there?" I asked. "Yes. Come home as soon as possible. I can't say this over the phone," She began. "Oh I almost forgot. Turn off your phone," With that she ended the call. I turned off my phone as she had asked. "So what did she say?" Percy asked. "To come home as soon as possible, turn off my phone and that she couldn't tell me something over the phone," I answered. "Okay good," He said following me out of the school. "Why is that good?" I asked. I still couldn't figure him out. "You'll find out. Oh and don't freak out when you're having that conversation wit your mom," I looked at him weirdly. How would he know what my mom wanted. He must have noticed the weird look I gave him. "I've also been through this," He explained. "This what?" I asked. "That's what your mom is going to tell you,". When we were at the parking lot, we separated ways.

I walked up the hall and met my mom on the way. She was holding a big black sports bag. She looked at me worried. "I'm fine," I said with a smile on my face. We walked inside and she put the bag on the table. "Okay," She began. "This is not going be easy," She looked at the bag, then at me, then back at it. "What's not going to be easy? And what's in that huge thing?" I asked pointing at the bag. "Well this has to do with your father," I smiled and looked up at her. Finally she would talk about him. "And you can have a look inside if you'd like," She stepped aside so I could get to it. I opened the bag and stepped back when I saw what was inside. "Mom, why are there weapons in this?" I made a face at her. "Is dad some sort of military man, or weapon maker or whatever? Where you two criminals?" I asked, raising both of my eyebrows. "No, no. Honey you've got this all wrong. These are for you," I looked at her as if she was crazy. "So you want me to be a criminal?" I asked sarcastic. She smiled. "No. You told me you where just up against a hellhound -" I cut her off. "How did you know it was a hellhound and not just a big dog. That's what I told you," She shook her head. "Because… I really don't know how to say this," I sat down going trough the weapons. There was a bow and a quiver full of arrows, two daggers, a sword and a big hairpin with a rose at the top. I didn't understand why that was down here. I took it up and looked at the red rose. My mom looked at is as well. I put it back. "Please don't go crazy and talk about Hades, Hercules and pens that turns into swords," I closed the bag again. She looked at me surprised. "What… How," She didn't get to finish. "There's this guy at school, Percy, he had a pen-sword thing and he told me about hellhounds and how they belonged to Hades. Though I think he may have hit his head. Or maybe it was me," I looked up at the sealing. "None of you hit your heads. He's right," I laughed quietly. "What do mean? Do you believe in the Greek gods?" I asked while trying to hold back the laugh. "Of course. Your dad was -" I broke in. "He was Greek, I know. But don't tell me he believed in them and now you do too," I said. "Well he was the one who made me believe in them. But not because he believed in it, because he was a part of it," She crossed her arms. "Oh. Y-You're serious. Wow, mom I-I don't know what you mean but -" This time she cut me off. "Your father's a god. And yes I am dead serious," I raised my eyebrows and looked at her worried. I hated when she got all stubborn, but she always got right to the point. "Mom are you sure you didn't hit your head, because -" I stopped. Don't freak out, Percy had said. I've also been trough this. Don't tell me he actually believes his father is some Greek God. "I didn't hit my head, but tell me about this Percy," She sat down in front of me. "Mom this is crazy, both of you are," I looked at her, then down at the floor. I didn't want to call them crazy, but it was, they were. I heard a knock from the door. My mom got up to open, I heard that she was talking with someone but I couldn't hear what they where talking about. A while after my mom and Percy stepped in.

I rolled my eyes. "You two are really taking this too far," My mom went into my room, and came out with a bag a little time after. In the meanwhile Percy and I had had a stare contest. She gave me both the big black bag and my little vintage flower bag. "Mallie, go with him. There's a camp for people with God parents," Percy nodded. "You'll be safe from monsters there," He said. I sighed "You've got nothing to lose," Percy smiled and there was a spark in his sea green eyes. "Fine. But I'm not saying I believe you!" I said and I walked out with Percy after saying goodbye to my mom.

We went into a alley where I saw two horses, one black and one white. But as we got closer, I saw that these weren't horses, or not normal ones anyway. They had wings. That's it I'm crazy. Percy went up to the white one. "Malou, this is IceDrop," He looked down at IceDrop. "IceDrop, this is Malou. You'll fly her to camp," The horse neighed. "You're talking to it," I said. "Yeah. It's a son of Poseidon thing," I decided not to ask him about it. Percy jumped up on the black horse and I on IceDrop. Soon enough we were flying off to some camp for children with God parents. Great.

Notes

Sorry it took so long. I have so many homework. It might be some time before I post the next chapter. I have a school book, and two essays and a report to write, all for november... I hate school.
