A new world without him

Frank searched the air for any Romans. Leo tried to fix the ship as fast as he can. I kept watch with Percy. Percy seemed different. He seemed more calm and quiet.

"Percy, why did you changed?" I blurted out.

"Hm. I didn't mean too. It just happened at the camp. Romans are more strict than us, Jess." Percy patted my shoulder.

I laid on my bed and thought of home. Mom, my brothers. I missed the guys. I was tired. I was about to close my eyes when there was a knock.
I opened the door. It was Ryan. He smiled. I felt little butterflies fluttered in my stomach. Stop it I said mentally.

"Hey, Jess."

"What do you want?" I sighed.

"Percy wanted me to check on you. He told e what happen on the deck." Ryan stood in the doorway.

"So. If Percy cared for me he would have came here himself."

"Jess come on-"

"No" I said sharply. "If you are going to say that he wanted to see Annabeth. Just go."

Ryan was quiet. I sat on my bed. I placed my hands on my face. I didn't feel like being around couples. I heard footsteps. I didn't bother to look up to see if Ryan left.

"You kept the bracelet." He was standing in front of me.

"Yeah." I said softly.

Ryan kneeled in front of me. He took my hands. in his. He looked at me. I felt just a wave of calmness. I started to cry. I couldn't help it. Ryan gathered me in his arms. I buried my face in his chest. I finally accepted that he alive and breathing.
After I calmed down. Ryan was still holding me.

"When I first woke up on the beach. I saw so many faces. None of them made sense. I heard your voice break through. I sat up to get a better look at you. I saw you in that dress. All I could think that I was lucky to see you again. Looking so beautiful. I wanted to be alive again to make feel beautiful."

I held still. Ryan was alive because he wanted me. Of all the people in the world. He wanted me. Not his siblings. Or his mom. Me. I kissed his cheek. I saw him smile.

"Ryan, I'm sorry for everything."

"It okay, Jess. You just need to date me and everything will be forgiven."

I laughed and kissed him. Ryan held me close. The lunch bell went off. Ryan let me go. We went off to get some food.
