Percabeth Drabble

Nightmares

Her hand started slipping, and I was losing my grip. No, I would not let her go. I tried harder to hold on to her hand but she smiled.
"This is not the time to smile." I grunted, trying to hold on to her and pull us up. I heard her laugh, that laugh that I knew all too well.
"It's gonna be okay Percy. Just let me go." She stared into my eyes. They grey was determined, like she always was. So, why was she so ready to give up?
"You'll die." I rejected her wishes.
"You don't know that." She started to sound more like the girl I knew, but what she was talking about wasn't any comfort.
"Then I'll let go, too." I finalized.
"Percy-" She sounded aggravated.
"No! I'm not letting you go. Nico!" I shouted, looking upwards now. A rope was hanging down, but I could reach it. That's when i realized that one one of us would make it out.
"Percy." Annabeth said. She said it all in just my name. I tried to pull her up, but she glared at me and started to close her grip. I grabbed tighter onto her hand.
"Annabeth. Together." I said, pulling her up onto me.
"Percy, alone." She snapped, and grabbed me with her free hand. She dug her nails into my skin and my grip weakened, and she pulled my fingers back. A smile played across her lips and she fell into the pits of Tartarus.

I sit up in bed, my small room on the Argo II still dark. It must've been the middle of the night, judging by how the entire ship was silent. My breaths were long and heavy, and I needed to get a drink. I got up and pulled a t-shirt on before making my way to the kitchen. I grabbed a goblet and got water in it, drinking a large mouthful before I heard footsteps. A sigh was heard in the dark, and it sounded like Annabeth. I turned on the light and faced the other person in the room.
"You too?" She asked, slightly laughing to herself and she grabbed my goblet and took a sip.
"Hey..."I pouted, and she simply gave me a smile.
"What was yours about?" She asked, leaning against the wall.
"When we fell. You forced me to let you go. It was pretty crazy and I'm seriously happy that you are alive." I hugged her, feeling her bury her nose into my shoulder.
"Mine was that we were twelve again. It's been forever, Percy. At first it was great and stuff, but then Ares killed you and I watched the whole thing. Gods, what did we get into!" She laughed, shaking her head.
The silence between us wasn't awkward, we stood, holding on to each other. The sounds of our breaths the only thing we heard.
"I'm gonna go back to bed. Goodnight, Seaweed Brain." She smiled and left my embrace, and the room. I smiled back at her.
"Goodnight, Wise Girl."
