Two Bodies, One Soul

Chain links

Delia

Delia was munching on a tofu burger as Kat ran into the pavilion, it looked like they'd both had the same idea to get an early lunch so they could get to class before the campers they were meant to be teaching.

As Kat came closer, Delia could see a panicked expression on her face. Maybe she wasn't here for an early lunch.

"We need to talk." Kat panted.

"What's wrong?" Delia asked as her sister sat down beside her.

"I just swore earlier, in greek." Kat looked at her like she expected her to be shocked. Why would she be shocked? She'd been teaching Kat Ancient Greek herself, she was doing so well that she was going to teach her some curses soon....

"I haven't taught you any curses yet!" Now she got why Kat was panicked.

"I've been having this feeling ever since the quest...." Kat started. "It's like whenever you hurt yourself I can feel it too, and I could feel my heart breaking when you said goodbye to Leo. At first I thought it was just empathy but now I'm starting to wonder that maybe our minds are more closely linked than we thought. If I can suddenly speak a language you can fluently, who knows what's next?"

Delia was seriously freaking out now. She felt the same way but she assumed it was all in her head. They seriously needed to talk to-

"Chiron." They both chorused and they grabbed their lunch and ran towards the Big House.

"Chiron," Delia began, jogging to a stop in front of the centaur who was playing some odd card game with a man with purple eyes.

"We need to talk." They both said then shared a look, both creeped out.

"Can you at least wait until after I win?" The man grumbled.

"Sorry Mr D. But this is really important." Kat insisted.

"Fine, Kat." He sighed. They were some of the few campers he could remember the names of, maybe because they were friends with his only daughter.

Chiron led them inside, stooping underneath the doorway.

"So girls," He said as they sat down. "I see you've discovered your abilities."

"What abilities?" Delia asked.

"I think you know." He said. The twins shared a scared look. They did know. "As immortal twins you have a special link between each other, it's part of the reason you had to be separated at a young age, you were too powerful together. And now that you're minds have created a connection you can feel what the other is feeling, you can talk to each other in your minds, tell what the other is thinking. It's like your minds are two chain links." He explained.

"Does that mean if one of us dies..." Kat asked.

"The other does too. Yes, it's true but that's partly why you needed to stay immortal while you discovered your connection. If you become mortal then indeed, you can both die." He confirmed. The sounds of campers filing into the pavilion came through the windows, "Now go, and try not to dwell too deeply on this, you will discover more as you go."

They left, but how could they not think about what just happened. So much for an early lunch, Delia's appetite was gone.
