Two Bodies, One Soul

LCD's Garage

Calypso

Calypso felt her heart breaking after seeing Delia. Sh could tell Leo had feelings for the girl in the mirror, feelings he'd never have for Calypso. But why did she care? Soon the idiot would be off the island and gone. But yet she did care.

As the earth woman rose from the dirt, Calypso felt anger rise in her. Her prehistoric grandmother was not welcome here.
"You want to live," Gaia said to Leo. "You want to joinn your friends. But you do not need this, my poor boy. It would make no difference."
Calypso saw Leo's face turn pale with fear, but his eyes sparked with anger.
"What I don't need," he growled, "is more lies from you, Dirt Face. You told me my great-granddad died in the 1960's. Wrong! You told me I couldn't save my friends in Rome. Wrong! You told me a lot of things."
Gaia's laugh chilled Calypso to the core. It was soft and rustling, like the calm before an earthquake.
"I tried to help you make better choices. You could have saved yourself. But you defied me at every step. You built your ship. You joined that foolish quest, leaving the one you love to die. Now you are trapped here, helpless, while the mortal world dies." Gaia taunted him.
Leo's hands came alight and Calypso put her hand on his shoulder, silently warning him not to do anything rash.
"Gaia." Calypso said, trying to keep the hurt out of her voice. "You are not welcome."
"Ah, Calypso." Gaia raised her arms as if wanting a hug. "Still here, I see, despite the gods' promises. Why do you think that is, my dear grandchild? Are the Olympians being spiteful, leaving you with no company here except thia undergrown fool? Or have they simply forgotten you, because you are not worth their time?"
Calypso stared straight through her immortal grandmother. The words stung but she would not let it show.
"Yes," Gaia continued, feigning sympathy. "The Olympians are faithless. They do not give second chances. Why do you hold out hope? You supported you father, Atlas, in his great war. You knew that the gods must be destroyed. Why do you hesistate now? I offer you a chance that Zeus would never give you.
"Where were you these last three thousand years?" Calypso asked, trying hard to keep the angere out of her voice. Siding against the gods had been a mistake, and not one she was going to repeat. "If you are so concerned with my fate, why do you visit me only now?"
Gaia turned her palms up. "The earth is slow to wake. War comes in its own time. But do not think it will pass you by on Ogygia. When I remake the world, this prison will be destroyed as well."
"Ogygia destroyed?" Calypso shook her head, those words didn't belong together.
"You do not have to be here when that happens," Gaia promised. "Join me now. Kill this boy. Spill his blood on the earth and help me to wake. I will free you and grant you any wish. Freedom. Revenge against the gods. Even a prize. Would you still have the demigod Percy Jackson? I will spare him for you. I will raise him from Tartarus. He will be yours to punish or to love, as you choose. Only kill this trespassing boy. Show you loyalty."
Calypso couldn't do it. Sure Leo was annoying and she often dreamed of having Percy back. But killing someone and sabotaging a mission to save the world, and her home. She wouldn't do it. She thrust her hand towards Gaia in a three fingered gesture to ward against evil.
"This is not just my prison, Grandmother. It is my home. And you are the trespasser."
The wind ripped Gaia's form into nothingness.
Leo stared at her. "Uh, don't take this the wrong way, but you didn't kill me. Are you crazy?"
Calypso didn't even care that he was still here. She was enraged with her Grandmother. No one tries to destroy Ogygia. And no one asks for her help in doing so!
"Your friends must need you, or else Gaia would not have asked for your death." She pointed out.
"I- uh, yeah. I guess." He was still starijg at her, stunned she hadn't killed him.
"Then we have work to do." She said. "We must get you back to your ship."

Within a day, she gathered enough supplies for a week-long voyage; food, flasks of water, herbal medicines from her garden, a fair-sized sail and enough rope for all the rigging.
The second day she decided she was finished asked Leo if he needed any help with his own project.
He looked up from the circuit board and said that it was slowly coming together. "If I didn't know better, I'd think you were anxious to get rid of me."
"That's a bonus." She admitted.
He stared at her for a while. At her clothes? She'd already explained to him that she'd realised they were more practical after making him some. There was nothing special about the outfit, in fact the white T-shirt and jeans were covered in mud stains, as were her bare feet. So what was he staring at?
"So?" She prompted.
"So... what?"
Gods of Olympus he was thick. "So can I help?" She nodded towards the circuitry. "How's it coming on?"
"Oh, uh, I'm good here. I guess. If I can wire this thing up to the boat, I should be able to navigate back to the world."
"Now all you need is a boat." She said, a bit sad that he could leave and she couldn't.
He looked at her queerly. "What Gaia said..." He hesitated. "About you getting off the island. Would you want to try it?"
She scowled at the idea. "What to you mean?"
"Well... I'm not saying it would be fun having you along, always complaining and glaring at me and stuff. But I suppose I could stand it, if you wanted to try."
She smiled sadly.
"How noble." She muttered. "But no, Leo. If I tried to come with you, your tiny chance of escape would be no chance at all. The gods have placed ancient magic on this island to keep me here. A hero can leave. I cannot. The most important thing is getting you free so ypu can stop Gaia. Not that I care what happens to you. But the world is at stake."
"Why would you care about that?" He asked. "I mean, after being away from the world for so long?"
Calypso arched her eyebrows, for once he'd asked a sensible question. "I suppose I don't like being told what to do- by Gaia or anyone else. As much as I hate the gods sometimes, over the past three millennia I've come to see that they're better than the Titans. They're definately better than the giants. At least the gods keep in touch. Hermes has always been kind to me. And you father, Hephaestus, has often visited. He's a good person."
Leo looked like he didn't know what to make of that but then his eyes brightened with an idea.
"Wait, so gods can visit here?" He asked.
Calypso nodded.
"Then I can get you free!" He said. "I can get Robin to come and get you and he can-"
She held up her hand to stop him. "Leo, please. Don't fill my head with false hopes."
He was silent for a while.
"Now," she broke the uncomfortable silence, "how can I help?"
"Oh," he said, "you know that flameproof cloth? You think you can make me a little bag of that fabric?"
He described the dimensions to her and she waved her hand in annoyance. "That will take only minutes. Will it help on your quest?"
"Yeah. It might save a life. And, um, can you chip off a piece of crystal from your cave? I dont need much."
She frowned. "That's an odd request."
"Humour me."
"All right, consider it done. I'll make the fireproof pouch tonight when I've cleaned up. But what can I do now, while my hands are dirty?"
She held up her grimy hands.
"Well," he said, "you could twist some bronze coils but that's kind of specialised-"
She pushed in next to him on the bench and began twisting bronze coils. "Just like weaving," she said. "This isn't so hard."
"Huh," Leo said, sounding a bit impressed. "Well, if you ever get off this island and want a job, let me know. You're not a total klutz."
She smirked. "A job, eh? Making things in your forge?"
"Nah, we could start our own shop," Leo said. "LCD's Garage: Auto Repair and Mechanical Monsters."
"LCD's?" She asked.
"Yeah," Leo said, then hesitated. "Uh, Leo, Calypso's and Delia's Garage."
Calypso was silent for a moment. Starting a garage with Lro and his girlfriend might sound fun to him. But to her she could feel her hopes being dashed and her curse kicking in.
"Delia, huh?" She asked, trying to keep the resentment out of her voice. "Why don't you ever talk about her?"
"Uh, well." He said quietly. His hands flashing over his work. "She helped me finish Festus. She's really good with tools for an Aphrodite girl. She's left to defend camp because of a stupid mistake I made and now, heading into the biggest battle of her life, she thinks I'm dead."
Tears were in his voice and she could tell he was doing the best he could to keep them out of his eyes.
"So starting up our own garage, huh?" She changed the subject, trying to soumd cheerful for his sake.
"Yep." He replied. "We could sell your lemonade and stew."
"Fresh fruits and vegetables." Calypso offered.
"We could even provide entertainment. You and Delia could sing and I could, like, randomly burst into flames."
Calypso couldn't help but laugh at that.
"See," he said, "I'm funny."
She managed to kill the smile. "You are not funny. Now, get back to work, or no lemonade and stew."
"Yes ma'am." He said.
They worked in silence for the rest of the afternoon.

Notes

Friendzoned!
This one probably should be two chapters but I'm too lazy to have to start another chapter so here ya go!
Please comment, rate and subscribe!
My ratings have gone down heaps thanks to a couple of people rating it low but oh well, I asked them to rate it honestly, didn't I? All the ones ahead of me deserve to be there though so I'm cool with it.
