Chapter Six

“Say WHAT?” I shrieked. Aiden simply looked at me before shrugging and disappearing out my door.

“Oh no you don’t.” I stormed after him, my fists clenched. “AIDEN!”

“Who are you yelling at?” Jem’s voice came around the corner cautiously.

“Just a friend...who I’m going to KILL if he doesn’t come out from wherever he’s hiding.” I growled, stomping into the living room. Jem watched me, his grey eyes following my every move.

“Where are you?” I screamed. “Come out!”

“Vivian...” Jem sounded very wary of me. I couldn’t blame the boy; as angry as I was right now, everyone would be shying away from me.

“AIDEN!” I bellowed, my face heating up.

“Over here, Viv.” Aiden’s voice whispered in my ear.

“Where are you?” I yelled, shivering as I felt his presence pass through me.

“Right here.” He formed in front of me, his dark eyes filled with an emotion I couldn’t make out.

“How DARE you tell me something like that and just disappear? Why?!” I attacked him, furious. He grabbed my wrists, holding me out as I flailed around in his grasp.

“Hello, Jem.” Aiden sighed, black hair falling into his eyes.

“You’re dead.” Jem said flatly.

“Welcoming as usual.” Aiden retorted with a wry smile.

“You died long ago.” Jem’s gaze raked over Aiden, his eyes hardening as Aiden smiled faintly.

“I’m still here. I never really left.” He said.

“You left us!” Jem shouted; his perfect features twisted from rage.

“I was keeping you SAFE.” Aiden hissed. “What other choice did I have?”

“You should have told Mom first.” Jem’s eyes softened slightly. “She loved you more than anything in this world, and when you left, she broke beyond repair. YOU were always her son, not me.”

“She didn’t care about me.” Aiden ducked away from Jem’s harsh glare.

“How can you say that?” Jem crossed his arms, stepping away. “You were everything to her.” With that, he slid out the door. I stood still, Aiden still holding onto me, before ripping my hands out of his grip and running for the door, slamming it behind me.

Notes

Yes, it's short, and yes, it's confusing. I'm going to have the whole sibling thing sorted out in the next two chapters or so, so bear with me. I just wanted the inititial meeting to take place.
