The Wheel Of Time
Something New
I had only been at the camp for a week when the dreams started again. first the snow and the fighting like the ones that had started before camp. Then something new happened.
Tthe dreams started with me running up a hill covered in green grass, and pine trees, and stranded rocks and boulders; instead of in the snow. The climb was steep but I knew that If I stopped I would never make it.
Everything seemed to happen in slow motion. I saw David fighting two Greek armored soldiers; Percy and Annabeth stood back to back and fought of four at the same time. I saw someone else running behind me followed by several soldiers armed and ready to fight.
The person behind me seemed to be guarding my flanks. I heard them turn and the ringing of swords slamming against one another.
"Go!" I heard from behind me.
I ran into the cave in front of me. I saw a bright white light, and ran out of the cave into the snow covered clearing. This time was different. It was empty. there was no one not even falling snow. but as I looked around I saw dark shadows on the ground. I walked closer to one, and found it wasn't a shadow.
It was blood.
A puddle of blood, a meter wide and too red to be old. From experience with David and his medical training, I knew, Without a doubt, this person had died. no one, not even a demigod, can survive that much blood loss.
And these puddles were everywhere.
I could feel something different about this dream. It wasn't just something to warn me. This would happen, If I didn't do something to stop it.
Despite my surroundings, I felt eerily calm. until I heard the crunching footsteps behind me. I spun around, and found an older version of Percy walking toward me. I knew it wasn't Percy because the scars that showed on his arms when he wore tee-shirts were gone.
This was my father, Poseidon.
"Hello, Elizabeth." He said, stopping a foot in front of me.
"Hi."
"You must understand that I did not choose this for you. We never cane control When it happens or who goes. If I could..." He said taking a step closer. he said the last words on a sigh, letting the end hang in the air. He reached out and touched my cheek. It was warm and calloused; it smelled like the ocean, salty and clean. It made me feel safe.
He said and looked me in the eyes.
"Talk to Chiron. Talk to Rachel. tell them that Time hangs in the balance." He said and then dissipated in a cloud of mist.
I woke up gasping.
Percy woke up across from me. He looked around and then finally saw me.
"What is it?" He asked, already getting up and walking towards me.
"I think..." I tried but my throat was dry, and my voice came out raspy. I swallowed and tried again.
"I think... I think Dad just gave me a quest." I said and looked at him, terrified to see worry in the calm sea-green eyes.
