The Wheel Of Time

First Night

"Come look at this!" David had me by the wrist. he had been dragging me around the camp for almost two hours, stopping every ten minutes to see something or meet someone else. By the time he was done with his 'tour', it was almost dinner time.

"I'll see you there!" he shouted heading off towards his cabin. I turned around and walked toward cabin three. I walked through the door again, and couldn't keep from smiling. This place just felt... right. It felt like another home. one I hadn't known I was searching for until I found it.

Don't get me wrong; I love mom and Jack, and our home in Rhode Island, but... this was... safe. It was family and friends, fun and safety. It was... Perfect.

I didn't notice then, but I had been standing on the porch staring at the door for a couple of minutes by the time Percy walked out.

"Hey. So how was your first day?" He asked, and I snapped out of my reverie.

"Great so far, but the day isn't over yet!" I said smiling. He smiled back and glanced at something over my shoulder. I thought it was nothing until he did a double take. I turned around to see a rather frightening teenage girl walking toward us from across the field.

She was tall, had short jet-black hair with a a silver ringlet around her head, Dark eye shadow, and, oddly, a silvery glow about her. She looked angry, and the black 'death to barbie' t-shirt over her silvery jeans was not helping the image.

She was about ten feet away when Percy stepped off the porch and walked toward her. She stopped and stood frozen as he made his way closer. He stopped in front of her and they seemed to glare at each other; I swear the air was charged with quietly crackling electricity.

I was about to warn Percy, or at least try to go help him, when she threw her arms around his neck. I stepped forward, ready, and heard him... Laughing. He was happy.

Thalia. This must be the fabled Thalia Grace, Percy's 'cousin'.

"Funny," I thought to myself, "I didn't think they got along." I walked forward to hear them chatting.

"How've you been?"

"I haven't seen you in forever!"

"Kill any monsters lately?"

It went on for a few minutes, before Thalia looked over Percy's shoulder to see me. I kind of wanted to become invisible, her eyes could be so cold.

"Where's Annabeth?" She asked him. He began to answer, but before he could get two words out, a blonde someone crashed into Thalia, tackling her to the ground.

Annabeth popped up off the ground. "There," She said, "Now we're even." She stuck her hand out and pulled Thalia up.

Thalia shook her head smiling. She looked at me again; this time, she seamed to study me. She looked me up and down and come to some conclusion.

"Another sister? you are going to be the only boy, aren't you?" She said looking back at Percy.

"So far." He said, and waved me forward. "Liz this is--"

"The great Thalia Grace, Hunter of Artemis." I finished for him. Thalia smiled at me.

"I like her. you ready for capture the flag?" she asked me.

If I remembered correctly , capture the flag wasn't until Friday, three days from now. But David did say something about an honorary game when the hunters showed up.

"Definitely." I said. I hope I sounded more confident then I felt, because this girl scared me . I even looked older than her; but she seemed to radiate an old wisdom. she was a lot older than she looked and everyone could feel it.

She smiled and turned around, heading back to the silver building that was now glowing dimly.

"So," I started.

"Call a meeting with the others. Five minutes." Percy said to Annabeth, and she took off towards the Ares cabin.

"Wait!" I yelled at Percy. He turned around surprised. "Wait." I said again and ran inside the cabin. I grabbed the light blue notebook, out from under my bunk and ran back out the door, to find that Percy had indeed waited for me.

"You'll need this. they have never met me before. They don't know how I think. You'll need fresh Ideas." I gasped, and handed him the notebook. He took it from me and looked confused.

"Tell Annabeth to start at page 21. They won't expect that one. Or 43. Forty-three is a good one." I said and turned to walk back into the cabin. I heard papers rustle as he open the notebook, but I kept walking.

"Elizabeth!" He said, and I stopped and turned around, He was already on top of me and grabbing my elbow, dragging me towards the big house.

"There is no way," He started and my heart plummeted, "That I am going to let anyone, anyone, take credit for this idea, except you." I looked up at him to find a huge grin spread across his face. He looked down at me.

"This is brilliant." He said and let go of my elbow, only to wrap an arm around my shoulder and hug me.

Only four minutes later, I was standing in front of a table full of veterans. And I was going to beat the hunters when they couldn't? what was I thinking?!

"I have been planning my capture the flag against the hunters since I was twelve, I studied every war and battle tactic in the book, and some from under the table as well. I have a couple suggestions if you're open to it , but I am only up here because Percy thought this was a good idea." I would have kept going if the comments hadn't have started.

"Let's do it." Leo said from the other end of the ping-pong table.

"If Percy ok-ed it, I'm all for it." the ares cabin head, Clarisse, said.

"May I see the plan?" Jason asked, from his seat next to Piper. I tossed the notebook towards them, careful so that the right page would be open. They looked through it, scanning and nodding occasionally. Piper looked at Jason after a minute, and he looked back. They both smiled, and looked at Percy and Annabeth, both of whom had already seen and read over the plans.

"Let's do it." Leo said again, after seeing the exchanged looks.

Most of the others seated around the table nodded, and the few who were worried were handed the notebook. After a few more minutes, we all came to a unanimous decision.

Plan 21 it was.

For the first time in three years, we could win this.

Bring it on, Hunters.

All of the above, except not the something not great. And I have NOTHING to criticize. At. All. I LOVE reading this and cannot wait to read more!!!!!

@Frost Wrathbomber, could you elaborate a little on that? I love constructive criticism! But is that an "OMG, how could you?" or a "OMG what's gonna happen next?" or just an "OMG this is great/something not great!" ??????

thanks so much!
