Left 4 Dead: the Cole Protocol
Unfortunate Events
Jason's POV:
"We shouldn't have left them back there, you know." Annabeth said, whipping at some flies. We were walking through an abandoned street, cars crashed and buildings destroyed. A telephone wire hung over the street, creating some nasty sparks.
"I don't care. If we tried to go back for them, we'd have been eaten as well." I replied. Leo was looking around nervously. He had taken the whole "Undead" thing pretty seriously compared to the rest of the group. I didn't really know why, but he was a lot more jumpy since the crash.
Unfortunately, we had lost Frank, Coach Hedge and Percy in the wreck. The ship was separated in mid-flight due to some technical difficulties (Leo was becoming a mess).
Annabeth, Leo and I were thrown off and landed in a nearby field. Luckily, no one was hurt (In our little group). Percy, Coach Hedge and Frank were still in the other half of the ship which landed in a small town. We would have tried to help them, but the entire wreck was swarming with those things. Leo started to call them Walkers.
I grabbed the wire laying in the street and held it over my head. The sparks didn't hurt me, luckily. I let Leo and Annabeth go through safely.
"Percy could still be alive..." Leo stated, walking past a corpse, poking it with a stick.
"I'm telling you; the only person who would have escaped that hell hole alive would have been Frank, and even that's a bit sketchy. There isn't enough water around here for Percy to do any damage with. Not to mention he's extremely wounded-" Annabeth cut me off.
"Because of you." I could feel her eyes on my back behind me.
"Look, we just need to keep moving. Keep your voices down." I flew up into the sky effortlessly, and took a look around. We were still another 10-20 miles away from the nearest city. Maybe there were still survivors there.
I flew back down to the ground and reported my findings.
"Only a few more miles to go." I said, starting to walk further.
"Look out!" Leo's voice echoed throughout the tall grass in the field.
I turned to face him, but was struck with a metal pipe, and fell unconscious.
