Audentis Fortuna Iuvat
Straighten
We were broken. Our mission waiting for us through the ominous black doors above us while we couldn't even manage to piece ourselves back together.
I had to help Colin and Aliyah drag Dakota back from Cindy's body after he started cursing the Fates - which was never a good idea in the middle of a battle.
"She's gone." He sobbed, tears falling from his face as they would a stormy night.
I wasn't crying. It was like my emotions were too overloaded with pain that they simply numbed, as nerves do when plunged into below freezing temperatures. I squeezed his shoulder which didn't work very well due to thick armour plates. "She'll get Elysium." I told him. "She was a hero."
He spared me a weak smile.
Jason gathered us, scrubbing at his puffy eyes. "We still have to do this." He said. "We'll enter the palace and then you'll follow my orders. We'll rush the Titans and win this battle before more lives can be wasted on the battlefield. We do this and we do this for all our friends who - thanks to Krios - won't see our victory when we crush him underfoot."
Dakota sniffed and seemed to straighten slightly. He looked Jason in the eyes. "Let's do this."
This time there were no cheers, only grim smiles and a few gazes that burned with a scary intensity of hatred.
"Lead the way." Jason told me and I pushed through the heavy doors.
