Islands of Guilt

Annabeth-

"I'm Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena. And you are?"

The gorgeous girl, turned to her brother. He stared back, as hard as stone. "I'm Isabelle Lightwood, Shadowhunter. This is my brother,--"

"Alec Lightwood," said the man, "I can say my own name Isabelle. Remember, I'm the adult."

Izzy rolled her eyes,"You say that but you don't act like it." Alec opened his mouth to shoot something back to her, but his eyes darted to mine. He looked at me skeptically. "Did you say daughter of Athena?" I didn't appreciate the way he said my mother's name, "Have some respect, she's the goddess of wisdom. I don't think she'd accept of your immature behavior."
Gods, Annabeth, I thought to myself, You're starting to talk like you're eons old.

Alec scoffed, "Me? Immature? You must be joking. At least I don't burn offerings to mommy goddess."

"You did not just say that." Anger swelled through me. He was obviously just a snobby, stuck up rich Shadowhunter. "You will regret ever being born."

Izzy half raised her hand. "I wish I was born first. I'd be a better adult. I'd actually let my younger sibling help."

Alec turned to his sister, "It's like you letting Max fight!" That hit a soft spot. Izzy's eyes got red and tears welled up. Her voice cracked as she said, "How dare you say that about our deceased little brother. He was nine! Nine, by the Angels!"

I could tell this fighting was starting to get out of hand. I stood up and walked up to them. I made my voice calm and soothing. "Let's all stop this arguing. There are more important matters to discuss. You said something about a son of Poseidon, correct?"

"Yeah," Alec said, "Speaking of demigods, how did you get past the city limits?"

"I walked."

"But..." He turned to his sister and they whispered to each other for a while. Izzy looked at me, "We need you to come with us. You're not in like, trouble or anything, but our friend--"
Alec coughed and said my boyfriend "--might know why you were allowed through the city limits. You said your last name is Chase. Is that short for anything?"

"I'd have to ask my father. If I knew him. His first name is Fredrick, though. My mother told me."

Alec began muttering my father's name under his breath. Then his face lit up, "Yes! Fredrick Dragonway."
