Path of the Ice God

I woke up in my bed. Just a nightmare. But it felt like I really knew those kids... And it felt so real, but distant... I tiptoed into the kitchen. Mom might not be up... Was she really evil? No. The things we did were nesscecary. And the girl in the library...? Wait. I knew her, from a dream. She was writing. That's all I remember. Why do all my dreams have people writing? And I was forgetting something...

Oh yeah! Mom's birthday! I found some frozen bacon and pancake mix. I was determined to make this a good day. Only one problem. I suck at cooking.

I put the bacon in a pan with some grease and turned on the stove. This couldn't be too hard. Instructions on the box, plus Mom can do it. I guess the instructions didn't mean that much grease, though, because flames erupted into the pan and licked at my face. I had time to scream, "Fire!" and then I lost consciousness.
