Life As We Know It

Let It Snow (kinda sorta continued)

Kat awoke to the sounds of joyful cheers outside the Aphrodite cabin. Groaning, she blinked the sleep out of her eyes and pulled aside the pink drapes to see her sister dancing in the snow with Leo. Kat cast a jealous glare at her still sleeping siblings and started to pull on some warm clothes.

Ten minutes later she was pounding her fist against Nico's door, but to no reply. Muttering curses about lazy boys, she stormed into the cabin, only to be greeted by her boyfriend's snoring.

"Wake up!" She called, throwing herself on top of his sleeping body with a grin on her face.

Nico shot awake and (after a few moments of panic) shot her a deadly glare.

"You know, nice girls knock." He grumbled.

"I did and I am." Kat grinned, still lying on his stomach.

"Yeah right." Nico replied, a smile pulling at the corners of his mouth.

"Happy Christmas." Kat told him.

"Right back at ya." He said, leaning in for a kiss.

Kat pulled away. "Uh, uh. You brush your teeth first!"

She clambered off of him and wandered out of the cabin without looking back, but she could feel him grinning after her.

Later that day, all of the year-round campers sat around the campfire exchanging gifts. Leo and Delia sat by Kat and Nico.

"I'll go first!" Leo told them, pulling out three small white boxes and passing them around. Kat opened hers to see a silver smartphone resting in polystyrene.

"Uh, Leo, hate to break it to you, but demigods can't use cellphones." Kat said, the others all nodded.

"Oh but I made these." Leo grinned knowingly. "They won't malfunction or attract monsters!"

Kat smiled and placed the box down next to her before looking up to thank Leo, only to see her sister already thanking him- in a more personal way.

Kat coughed loudly and the two broke apart, blushing furiously. "Let us thank him too, Lia." She chided her sister.

"Thanks, Leo." Nico said, hiding a smile.

"Me next!" Delia announced, looking anxious to change the subject. She pulled out some more small boxes and passed them around. Kat frowned at hers before opening it, it was a tooth on a silver chain- the tooth they had gained on their quest when they had killed the demon Mormo.

Happy tears sprung to Kat's eyes at the memory and she furiously blinked them away before hugging her sister. "Thank you." She told her twin.

"My pleasure." Delia whispered back.

Kat broke away from the embrace and looked at the boys who were both fingering golden rings with expressions of bewilderment on their faces.

"They're blessed by Apollo." Delia said. "They'll give you light in the dark if ever you need it."

Both of them thanked her and then Kat cleared her throat.

"My gift isn't really tangible so all I can really give you are these." She pulled out some envelopes and distrubuted them then sat, anxiously waiting for their reaction.

Nico was the first to respond. "You... enrolled us in school."

Kat nodded, biting her lip. The other still were staring at their letters.

"Thank you." Leo said.

Nico smiled and wrapped her hand in his and squeezed it in a silent 'thank you'.

"It's close enough so we can stay at camp and still go. Chiron's going to let us use the van to travel." Kat told them.

Delia looked up and met her eyes. "Thanks, Kat."

Kat smiled back.

"My turn." Nico told us, pulling out some tiny boxes from his pocket for the twins and a larger one for Leo.

Kat pulled the lid off of hers to reveal a tiny dove charm, Delia had one too. Nico took the box out of Kat's hands and attatched it to her bracelet for her.

"This one doesn't do anything, it's just pretty." He told them.

"What've you got, Leo?" Delia asked.

Kat looked up to see him fingering a black whistle.

"To summon me if you ever need to." Nico shrugged.

"Thanks, man." Leo said.

Just then, the Apollo campers began to strum their guitars and sing. Everyone settled down and listened, then began to sing too. The flames rose golden in the fireplace, snowflakes sizzling in the heat as they continued to steadily rain down on the campers.

Together, they continued to sing into the dark of the night.

I think I mentioned this somewhere but throughput the one-shots they're getting progressively older so there was probably a significant time jump there to when they're college aged

@The Bright One
No problem! I have one question though. How are they suddenly in college?
