Percabeth One-shots

Annabeth woke up to the squealing of her brothers and sisters. Can’t a hero get a little bit of sleep? she thought as she groggily got up. Her youngest half brother, Even, came over and pulled at her hands.

“Get up Annabeth! Get up! Look! Look! Look!” he beckoned.

“Alright, alright. What is it?” she asked.

She got out of bed and went over to the window everyone was looking out of. It was snowing! This wasn’t the first time the borders had allowed snow to fall, but never this much! There must of been six inches of snow on the ground already! How this much snow was allowed to get through was and will remain a mystery. Annabeth was smiling looking down at her sisters and brothers shuffling with excitement. She clapped her hands to gather their attention.

“Standing around inside won’t allow us to enjoy the snow outside. Let’s go!” she shouted. An entire cabin of eager children began to run about and get ready for their day of snow.

Annabeth had worn her long sleeved camp shirt, a grey hoodie and her teal winter bubble coat. She wore her dark blue denim jeans over some leggings and her white snow boots and white gloves. Once everyone was ready, Annabeth led her cabin to the dining pavilion for breakfast. During breakfast, surprise surprise, Chiron and Mr. D had canceled all activities due to the weather. After breakfast, everyone made their way to wherever they wanted to go. Annabeth was walking away when she heard her name. She turned around to see Percy make his way over to her. He was wearing a blue parka with black jeans and timberlands and black gloves. Annabeth hoped that he was wearing something warm underneath. He made his way over to her and kissed her lightly.

“Hey Annabeth,” he said smiling. “Where are you off too?”

“No where in particular. Why?”

“Good. I have a surprise for you.” His mischievous grin let her know that his ‘surprise’ wouldn’t be good.

“What is it?”

“Close your eyes and stand still,” he said.

“Fine.” Annabeth stood still and closed her eyes. She could hear footsteps around her, but didn’t think much of it.

That’s when she felt it.

All of a sudden, a light thud hit her chest. She opened her eyes and she saw the small specks on snow where Percy’s snowball had hit her on her coat. Percy, making the smart move, was running in the opposite direction of her. Annabeth bent down and made a snowball then ran after Percy at top speed. It didn’t take her long to get within aiming distance. She threw the snowball and it hit him right in his head. Bulls eye. He turned around and gave her a smirk and raised his hands in surrender.

“I earned that.”

“And a whole lot more!”

“You want to go Wise Girl?”

“Bring it Seaweed Brain!”

And the war began. Percy scooped some snow up and shot Annabeth right in her chest. Annabeth had made a snowball and threw it at Percy’s shoulder. Ten or so snowballs later, the two of them started to run about. Somewhere along the way, Percy missed Annabeth and shot Piper in the face with his snowball. While Percy was trying to apologize, Piper had already tossed a snowball at his face. Two on one, the war raged on. Somewhere along the way, Grover had joined in and came to Percy’s aid. A little bit later, the Stoll's dumped a load of snowballs on all of them from the top of Hermes’ cabin.

Jason returned the favor by controlling the winds and flew above the Stoll's and dropped some of his ammo on them. The Ares cabin joined in along with the Demeter cabin and before anyone knew it, the entire camp was in a snowball fight. Annabeth and Percy were still aiming for each other, even with the other projectiles coming at them from every angle. All day this went on; demigods remembering that they were still kids and teens and enjoying the simple pleasure of a snowball fight. When it was time for the campfire, everyone was shocked that they seemed to miss lunch and dinner. They were glad to see that Chiron saw that dinner and hot chocolate and tea were served at the campfire.

Annabeth and Percy sat next to each other and leaned into each other’s embrace for warmth. Annabeth was sure she couldn’t imagine a better day for herself. Sure, Percy had caught her off guard earlier. She was pretty sure she had a snowball or two thrown at her back that she didn’t return. Her grip on the cup of hot chocolate was tight for she could barely feel her fingers. And she was more tired than usual, with her going all day without eating and all. But Annabeth could not think of anything that would’ve made today any better.

Percy set his cup of hot chocolate down and wrapped his arms around Annabeth. He leaned his head into her shoulder blade and she snuggled into her.

“Had fun today?” he asked.

“Yes, I did. Even if you did catch me off guard.”

“In my defense, it was the only time I’ll be able to get that off ever again.”

“True.”

“And you got your payback.”

“I did, didn’t I?”

“My head still hurts.”

“That’s because it’s full of kelp.”

“And you still put up with it.”

Annabeth tilted her head so she was face to face with Percy and kissed him. Percy had returned the kiss, and managed to pat some snow on her legs in the process. She pulled away, took the remaining snow on her and ruffled it in his hair. Percy shook his head and smiled down at her. He leaned down and kissed her again.

“Best snowball fight ever,” Percy said afterwards.

“I agree,” Annabeth responded.

They leaned into each other’s embrace for the rest of the night.
