The Problem At The Mets Game...
Chapter 4: Lily
They all ran. They didn't know where they were running; they were just trying to get away from the monster. They ran past a store that sold baseball bats and balls. Lily quickly grabbed a ball and a bat when no one was looking. She gave the bat to Kevin an kept the ball for herself.
"What are you guys doing?" Owen yelled.
"Owen? When did you get here?" Lily asked. "And where are your pants?"
"Look closely at my legs." Owen said.
They all stared for a moment. As she stared, Lily started to notice that Owen had fur on his legs.
"You have furry little goat legs!" Autumn cried. "I don't know if I should be impressed or disgusted."
"Well, you really should be running for your life." Owen replied. "You see that thing up there? The thing that's trying to kill you? It's called a banshee. It's a creature of the Underworld. It's going to try and kill you no matter what, so if I were you, I would come up with a way to get rid of it."
"Can't you help?" Kevin asked.
"Sorry, I'm just a Junior Protector. Plus, I'm not a demigod. I don't have your skills."
That's great. Lily thought. The only person here who knows what's going on is useless in the situation.
What she did next was so unexpected, no one saw it coming. She searched the sky for the banshee, and when she found it, she let it come to her. Just as it started to descend towards her, she hurled the baseball into it's eye. Then, Kevin and Autumn caught on. They started beating the creature with their bats. Soon enough it was dead.
"What happens to us now?" Kevin asked. "Where do we go?"
"Camp Half-Blood." Owen replied. "It's going to take us a while to get there on foot, so do any of you have money to buy a train ticket?"
"I used all my money on food." Autumn said.
"Me too." Kevin said.
Lily sighed. Her parents hadn't let her bring money.
"So we walk." She said, trying to be positive.
Owen frowned and said, "It's going to be a very long walk."
