Ashes

Catching Fire

I pushed Julia off of me, and stood up, saluting the general.

"Sir!" I said, staring blankly in Fas'io's direction.

"At ease, Jenkins." Kozak said sternly. Kozak Fas'io was known as Captain Fas'io back during the war, but now he had become a general, still working for the legion. My dad had fought under his command. Fas'io wasn't very fond of my dad, and my dad wasn't that fond of him, but he was like a second father to me. He prefers me to just call him Kozak, his first name he was given by his Russian mother. I believe he's a descendant of Bellona.

"What seems to be the problem here?" He asked, eyeing Julia, still holding her dagger. "Your weapon, ma'am." Kozak extended his hand, and Julia abruptly dropped it into his hand.

"Just a little dog fight, that's all," Julia said, not meeting the general's eyes. He stood in front of her, towering at least 2 feet above her.

"Just a dog fight?" He asked. "It seemed more like an attack. Both of you, follow me."

"So you're telling me, that Percy actually spoke? too Allen?" Fas'io said in his comfy desk chair in his office. "What did he say?" I paused.

"He said that whatever is left of the Greek's are attacking Camp Jupiter." Julia slapped my arm.

"You lied to me?"

"You kidnapped me! Of course I lied!"

"Hush!" Fas'io said, holding a finger up.

"Does he know how many people there are?"

"No, sir."

"Dismissed, Allen. Julia, sit." He motioned to the seat in the corner of the room.

"Why does Allen get to leave?" Julia whined.

"Because he was the victim, not the aggressor. I just have a few questions to ask about your interrogation." Fas'io gave a fake smile, before getting up from his seat and pushing me out the door, closing it. Oi.

"So another leader could still be alive? A Greek leader of the war?" I asked, sitting on the hard chair in the cell.

"Yes. Last I heard, which mind you, was 16 years ago, he was held up in Tennessee, Nashville to be exact. But besides that, I have no idea what else is going on." Percy finished.

"So it's settled. I'll go to Tennessee." I stood up, about to walk out the door.

"Are you planning on going in that?" He said, motioning to my clothes.

"What's wrong with it?" I asked, looking at my skinny jeans and scorched shirt.

"It can get pretty cold in Tennessee in the winter. You might want to pack a bit more than that."

"Why are you helping me?" I asked, facing him.

"Because I admit- it was a foolish idea to start a war, especially with your camp. I'm hoping that I can right my wrongs with this. I'm not a bad guy. Your dad is my brother, and we were close before the war. Heck, I even knocked out my girlfriend to let him and his buddies escape! Your mom? I went on a few quests with her back in my youth. She knows I'm not a bad person. I was forced to pick a side in a war I didn't want anything to do with. Camp Half Blood was my home, so I defended it as much as possible." He frowned, looking at his leg. "I just don't want you to have to make the same choice if their numbers get too large."

I shook his hand, walking out if the door, heading for the small gas station I told ANna to meet me at.
