Behind the Shadows

It had been a nightmare for Sapphire to move all her stuff from one cabin to another. It wasn't the fact that she had too much stuff. It was all the Apollo kids whispering and not even acknowledging the fact that they had just lost a sister. Nope they just liked to stand there and gossip.

It didn't take her too long to get settled in to the Poseidon cabin. She chose her bed and made sure not to steal Percy's even though she was tempted to just to annoy him. She had always known how to act like a sister from having to put up with Luke all her life. Luke had spent most his childhood at her house just to keep away from his mother. His mother was a lovely woman, but she wasn't right in the head. Luke had never told Sapphire the reason to why his mother was the way she was. He just told her to blame his father for it.
Sapphire was on autopilot just sailing through the day trying her best to not think of Luke. He hadn't even said goodbye. By dinner time Chiron and Dionysus had returned with grim faces. They didn't speak much. Clearly they were still in shock from Lukes betrayal. Sapphire sat at her new table with Percy. He was eating blue food again. Annabeth kept on looking over at Sapphire from her table. She was clearly hurt from all the secrets that had been kept from her.

"What do you do when camp ends after summer?" Percy asked. Sapphire blinked and turned her attention from Annabeth to Percy.
"I usually sign myself up to a boarding school and then come here for the holidays" Sapphire replied. Percy frowned.
"So you don't have a home to go back to?"
"This is my home"
"You could always come and live at my house." After a moment Sapphire blinked not sure how to process the information.
"I can't do that! It wouldn't be fair on your mom"
"Our mom. And she would love it!"
"I would need to speak to Chiron just to make sure the gods don't fry me for being.... well me". Percy grinned looking hopeful.
"I've just figured something out!"
"What?"
"Every house I've lived in my mom has always made sure that it was a three bedroom. Maybe she had always hoped you would come back one day"
"Most people just like having a spare bedroom"
"Most people don't make the bed sheets sea green and lay a very old teddy bear on the pillows with an 'S' stitched on to its chest"
"That is odd!" Sapphire and Percy both nodded at each other. Their conversations all day had been about such personal stuff, but they made it so easy to talk about. They laughed at each others childhood memories and made sure not to make the topic go down hill. Like the Luke topic.
"Annabeth keeps on looking at me" Sapphire mutters. "I feel bad that she was left out of all the secrets between me and Luke"
"Go and speak to her." Percy urges. Sapphire thinks about it for a moment before she gets up and strolls over to Annabeth. As soon as Annabeth sees her walking over she starts to shuffle in her seat looking nervous.
"Annabeth, can we talk?" Sapphire asks when she reaches Annabeth.
"I don't feel like talking, Sapphire" Annabeth states. She looks up Sapphire from her seat. "Just give me some time and then we can talk"
"Okay, I want you to know I sorry you had to find out my secret through that awful announcement!" Annabeth gives a small smile before her expression turns confused.
"You didn't know about Luke?" Annabeth asks.
"Not until very recently"
"But he tells you everything. I thought you would of known from the start whenever that was. I thought you were in on the secret too!" Sapphire shook her head
"We should make a we hate Luke club!" Sapphire joked trying to get off the subject.
"We would just need to change the camps name because everyone would be in the club" It was sad that that was the truth. Sapphire didn't hate him she just felt numb for any feelings.
"Am I forgiven?" Sapphire asks.
"What is there to forgive? You told the whole camp that you had found out that you were adopted by a god and you shoved the gods lies right back in their face and that takes guts!" Annabeth piped with pride written all over her face.
"Chiron still seems livid about it. He told me to keep it a secret"
"It would of come out anyway" Annabeth stated. "Anyone could tell that you and Percy were related in someway. Same annoying personalities and appearance"
"Ha Ha. I do not act like Percy!"
"Keep telling yourself that"
"I will! I gotta go I need to go and beat up Clarisse for what she did this morning"
"Have fun" Annabeth sang before Sapphire marched out the room.
