Behind the Shadows

Angry Waves

After about an hour of watching over Jake and attempting to clean up most of the blood on him Sapphire decided it was best to hide. She slide under the bed and made sure was far enough under that she was completely hidden. Sapphire knew that eventually someone had to come to the room for Jake. So she waited because she wanted to give them a piece of her mind. A faint snore came from above and Sapphire held back a cackle. The door creaks open and she holds her breath, scared that the slightest sound would inform the person of where she is. Sapphire watches from under the bed, but is disappointed by how little she is able to see. All she can see is the person's shoes, however that is also a bonus because the shoes are heels. The person is female and a very trendy female from the style of shoes. She silently hoped it was not the female from earlier. If Sapphire was not currently being held hostage and hiding under a bed of someone who was gruesomely beaten then she might of asked the person where she got her shoes. The heels clicked away as they walk towards the bed. Sapphire clenches her fists to stop herself from crawling out and ninja kicking the female away from Jake. The person softly murmurs to Jake which Sapphire can't hear a word of. Jake grunts a little as he wakes up.
"Saph" Jake sleepily mumbles. He clearly is a little out of it. The person growls a little sounding annoyed. Jake continues to sleepily call for Sapphire but she stays put under the bed. The female continues to talk to Jake in an attempt to wake him up fully. "Who are you?" Jake sounds panicked. The bed creaks a lot from Jake moving to the other side of the bed.
"Where is she?" The female spits. Her heels click around to the other side of bed to where Jake is. Unfortunately this is the side Sapphire is lying under and she shortens her breath.
"Who?" Jakes voice is more clear than it had been an hour ago.
"Sapphire Willow!" The females shoes tap from impatience. The bed creaks some more and Jakes legs now block Sapphires view as he sits on the edge of the bed.
"I don't know" Jake coughs " I told Luke that multiple time as his men beat me to a pulp and I'm pretty sure you can't do much more"
Sapphire smirks feeling proud of Jake putting up a fight. The smirk is wiped off her face when the girl makes a move and the sound of something metal clicks. The tip of a sword appears in Sapphire view from a small gap between Jakes legs. Sapphire springs into action and shoves Jakes legs away as she she flies out from under the bed and stands before Nancy. Nancy pauses looking startled and its just enough time for Sapphire to pounce on her and grab the sword out of her hands. They both wizz to their feet and glare each other down. Jake scrambles onto the bed and watches. Nancy stays put, not making a move towards Sapphire.
"So brat, what exactly were you planning to do with this?" Sapphire snarls and holds up the sword for Nancy to see.
"Luke told me to use it to get the answers we need" Nancy hisses. Anger explodes through Sapphire. The ship sways a little and Sapphire isn't sure whether it was her that did it. She smirks at Nancy making sure to fill it with venom. Sapphire holds up the sword and twirls it in her hands.
"I need some answers, I wonder how I might get them out of you" Sapphire looks from the sword to Nancy. Nancy got the message and flee out the room. Sapphire let out a laugh and turns to Jake. He looks pale and worried. "So now we have a weapon".
"You weren't planning on actually using it on her, were you?" Jake asks and moves to sit on the end of the bed. Sapphire shakes her head and sits next to him.
"No, I would only use it if she put up a fight" Jake looks relieved and Sapphire smiles at him. "How are you feeling?"
"Better everywhere except my face which feels like I ran into a door repeatedly" Jake groans. Sapphire laughs and nudges him with her elbow.
"How are we going to get out of here?" Jake just looks at her and shrugs. "Your face looks like an old banana"
Jake lets out a long laugh before he winces and holds his jaw. Sapphire frowns and lifts her hand to hold his jaw and inspect it. Jake tenses up and sits completely still. His jaw is swollen and it forming nasty blue bruises.
"I'm not a doctor or anything, but you should live" Jake stays tense and watches Sapphire as she pulls back her hand back and lays it on her lap. "What?"
Jake shakes his head and turns his head to stare at the wall.
"Nothing" He mutters. Sapphire sighs and looks anywhere except Jake. Something weird had changed between them and she could not put her finger on it. Jake had been acting like this since Luke had left Sapphires side and Jake had filled that empty spot. A window came into her view and she sprang to her feet and went to check if it would open. Jake was right behind her when he caught on to what she was doing. The window was an average size, but it was high up and Sapphire could barely reach it. The bed was not help either and only gave her enough boost to touch the glass. She huffs and looks round for something else to stand on. It was obvious that the room had been cleared of anything that would help someone to escape.
Sapphire places her hands on her hips and glares up at the window. Jake was quiet and Sapphire wondered what he was thinking. She heard a huff before she felt arms go round her knees and she was lifted into the air. Sapphire quickly caught on to what Jake was doing and grabbed the windows handle and yanked at it. It opened with ease and she pushed herself up so that the window could support her weight and Jake could let go. The sea air hit her face as she pushed herself further out. No one was in sight.
Once she was most of the way out she swung her legs out and sat up and turned out and leaned though and offered a hand for Jake to take. He grabbed it and Sapphire used her other hand to grab the side of the window tightly as she pulled Jake up. When he grabbed the window frame and boasted himself up Sapphire let go of his hand and leaped out followed by Jake. The deck was completely empty on this side. It looked like a normal cruise ship with its sun loungers and swimming pool. Sapphire walked over to the railing and looked down. The ocean was calm and clear but it made her uneasy from thinking of how she was going to her and Jake out of here.
"Maybe he has some spare rowing boats lying around" Jake offers from next to her.
"Percy can breath under water. Maybe I can too and maybe I can.." Sapphire trails off feeling lost. She steps away from the railing and walks alongs the deck. "Let's go find some rowing boat then"
Jake catches up with her and they wander along the deck. The ship is large and she wonders how long Jake will be able to walk for. He seems alright now but appears to have a little limp. A sudden uproar of shouting comes from far behind them. Clearly someone had noticed the now empty room. Sapphire and Jake look at each other before they begin to run. Running was not the smartest idea because with Jakes limp and Sapphires boots they sounded like a pair of horses galloping around the deck. It was loud enough for anyone on the whole ship to hear but it did not stop them from running. The deck went on and on and it reminded her of the endless hallways inside of the ship.
"Jake I really sorry for this but you need to find something to hold on to. And hold it tightly" Sapphire orders before she turns around and sees a large group of men burst out of a doorway. Jake looks at her before he scrambles away and ducks behind a drink bar. Out of sight out of mind. Sapphire summons all the anger and hurt she can grab. She sees Luke appear in front of the large group. They come closer and closer and Sapphire looks Luke right in the eyes and thinks of all the hurt and shame he brought on to her beloved camp. It works and the ship begins to sway from the angry water. Luke and his group of men pause and all their heads turn in Sapphires direction knowing who is to blame. Sapphire smirks and Luke steps forward.
"It does not have to be this way, Sapphire!" Luke shouts at her "I need you by my side"
Sapphire snarls and a blast of water rushes over the railing and hits Luke. The group of men spring into action and rush for Sapphire. Weapons raised and teeth bared. Sapphire just simply smiles through all the hurtful thoughts and stands there as a massive wave flows onto the ship and wipes out all the men before her. Not a single one of them standing when the water washes away. She can't stop it now that she has started it. Every single memory hits her. She sees her and Luke standing in her childhood bedroom giggling over the goofy drawing her mum had drawn. She then sees Luke and Thalia chasing her around a play park and Annabeth laughing from the swings as she watches them. Thalia is gone now and would never come back. And Luke was fading into a darkness that only she could see. They were her only family and she was losing it one by one. Even Annabeth was falling away since she now has Percy as a quest friend. Was this it for her? To lose her family over and over again. It was the feeling of rejection that kept her running from any sort of home in fear that it would happen all over again.
"Sapphire!" A faint noise came through her thoughts. She could not see anything all she could hear was the angry waves throwing themselves at the ship. None of it touched Sapphire or even made her wobble.
"Sapphire!" The voice came again. Her eyes cleared a little just enough to see people on the floor coughing and spluttering out water just in time for another wave to hit them all. Arms latch on to Sapphire and fling her to the ground. She gasps and sees Jake kneeling over her. He reaches out and pulls her to him. He was saying something, but Sapphire heard none of it. She tries to peel herself away still feeling the need to show everyone on board what she was capable of but Jake just clutches on to her tighter.
"I'm losing them all" Sapphire whispers over and over again "I've lost Luke"
Jake touches her face and she notices he was brushing away tears. She was not even aware that she had been crying. Sapphire turns towards all the men on the ground and she sees Luke standing not that far away watching her with a startled and sad look on his face. He had heard her. Jake keeps on holding her while murmuring things to her. She saw Luke sigh before he points at something behind her and Jake. Sapphire turns her head and sees a rowing boat lying there at the end of the deck. It had not been there before but it must of been pushed there by all the water. Luke was letting her go
