The Heroes of The Camps

Iratus's P.O.V.



Falling into the Grand Canyon wasn't my favorite part of the day.
I woke up in the backseat of a school bus, not sure where I was, holding hands with a girl I didn't know. She was pretty: Her dark hair flowed down her pale skin: Her hazel eyes staring blankly out the window. She had a loose, yet firm grip on my hand, if that was even possible. She was wearing a simple white tank top with shorts. I looked down at my own clothing. I had on a blue plaid shirt, the sleeves rolled up to show off my forearms. I had simple cargo shorts on. There was a ring on my left middle finger. It was a shiny silver ring, with a small circle in the middle.

The girl on my right squeezed my hand. "Ira, are you okay? You look sick." She looked worried for a moment as I stared blankly at her.

"Where...Where am I?" I asked, dazed. "Who are you?" I paused. "Who am I?" The girl tilted her head.

"What's he blabbering about now," A female voice said from the seat in front of us. A round face stuck out of the side of the seat, a girl with brunette hair and greenish eyes.

"Ira, it's me. Dani?" The girl holding my hand said, letting go. "You don't remember me?" I stared blankly at her, shaking my head.

"Calm down, Dani. He's just messing with us." The female in front of me said.

"No," I intervened. "I really don't know who I am."

"I think he's serious," Dani said. "Phoebe, get the nurse." She put her hand on my forehead. "You aren't hot," she said, pulling back.

"Yeah, okay. If you must know where we are," Phoebe said. "We are on our way to the Grand Canyon for a field trip involving all of these..." She paused and motioned around the bus. "Lovely people. "Some of us stole things, like Dani, who stole a-"

"Hey!" Dani intervened. "No one is going to miss a simple shirt!"

"That shirt was 100 bucks." Phoebe said, blowing some hair out of her eyes. "And you, good sir, decided that blowing up a hole in the hospital wall." I would have to ask about that later.

"But-"

"Okay, listen up students." Said a man up front. His choppy, curly hair hung out from a "Swag" hat. He was wearing a "Trees Are People Too" T-shirt with faded jeans. He had facial hair that reminded me a lot like Tony Stark's from Iron Man. "We will be arriving shortly." He sat back down in his seat, his head still sticking out like a sore thumb.

"Oh, and since you 'lost your memory,'" Phoebe said, holding up her hands to make quotation marks. "That's nurse Harry. Speaking of him..." Phoebe stood up in the aisle, about to grab Harry's attention before the bus jolted to a stop.

"Everybody out!" Harry called before exiting the bus. Dani shrugged and stood up, waiting for me to leave the seat. I exited the bus, looking for nurse Harry. I failed.

"Dani," I said, pulling her to the side. "Who am I?" I asked, holding her shoulders. She was about half-of-a-foot shorter than me.

"You seriously don't remember anything?" She asked before answering. "You're Iratus Jenkins. My boyfriend. You 'play video games' for a living? Ringing a bell?" I shook my head.

"Ugh. Where is-" Dani was cut off when Nurse Harry shouted from a glass walkway hanging over the Grand Canyon.

"Double time it, love birds!" Dani and I were the only people who were still by the bus. Dani looped her hand through mine and pulled me over to the coach.

"Harry," She started before he cut Dani off.

"That's Nurse Harry to you!"

"Nurse Harry," She said with disgust. "Ira doesn't remember anything. Not even who he is. Maybe he hit his head or something. Can you-" A gust of wind nearly launched me off of the railing. I cought my balence, right before another gust of wind pushed against us. I held onto the railing, but Dani flipped over the side I quickly stuck my handover the edge, grabbing her arm.

"Help!" I screamed as Harry and I heaved her up.

"Everyone, back in the school bus!" Harry shouted, running towards safety with everyone else. Dani and I charged forward, almost making it off of the unstable bridge. Almost.

Lightening struck down a few feet from Dani and I, causing us to have to look away. Another zap hit behind us, and the glass under us shattered.

We both fell through the platform, falling at terminal velocity into the Grand Canyon.
