Dust and Gold

We Venture into the Labyrinth

We met at the edge of the woods.
Alexia had brought a friend called Jennie, a satyr had found her at an abusive foster home when she was 9 years old, brought her here.
She was now 15, she had pantinum blond hair, which she kept in a bun, violet eyes, a lip piercing and more than one ear piercing on each ear.
She was pretty tall, oh and a daughter of Hecate, which I learned was the godess of magic.

"Come on let's get going," Alexia said after she introduced us.

I couldn't help but stare at Jennie, I saw many people like her when I had run away, usually they tried to mug me, that's why her look kind of scared me too. Her neclase was really neat though. It had a diamond shaped pendant with a burgendy gem. The gem seemed to glow a bit in the early light, as if it absorbed the light around it and then reflected it, but differently.

Alexia dragged us to the clearing from before and before I knew it we were in the dark caves of the labyrinth. Alexia put Jennie as the guide for some reason.

"She can see through the thick mist of the labyrinth, since her mother is the godess of the mist and magic." Alexia told me. Which confused me, what mist?.

"What's the mist?" I asked.

"It's a magical force that veils godly things and stuff from humans, most demigods can see through it, but if it's too thick, it'll fool them just as easily as it would a human." Jennie told me.
Before I knew it I had lost count how many left and right turns we took, loud groans came from the distance, as if the labyrinth was a machine that never turned off.

Alexia grabbed my hand. I could tell she was scared too. The dark, only light coming from out flashlights, distant monster sounds and footsteps.

Soon enough I heard loud footsteps behind us.

"You sure you smell 'em?" A scrapy voice asked.

"Yeah, two half-bloods and a mortal." A deep voice answered. A mortal? But we were three half-bloods.

"Ouh, the boss gonna be happy with that. Can we eat the mortal?" The scrapy voice asked.

"No, Master Luke said he wanted the whole group."

"But boss said it'd be two half-bloods, a satyr and a cyclops, I don't smell no goat, or cyclops." The scrapy voice said.

"Hm, maybe his information was wrong then." The deep voice replied.

I let a small whimper out, they wanted to capture us. I was terrified, I didn't want to meet this Luke. The monsters were looking for Percy.
Alexia squeezed my hand, Jennie had stopped moving ahead of us.

She put a finger up to her lips, I took some time to look at the tunnels around us, they seemed to be made out of dirt and random roots were sticking out of random places.

I put my hand against the wall, I don't know what happened but a rock above us fell and hit the stone floor below us, there was a loud bang, the monsters behind us broke into a sprint.

We ran, but we hit a dead-end, they caught up to us.

"Ah looky what we have here." The bigger one with the deep voice, which now I see was a cyclops. Picked me up from the right arm like a rag doll. Pain shot down from my elbow to my back, my shoulder felt like it was being dislocated. "AH!" I cried in pain. The cyclops gingerly took my beanie off.

"HEY GIVE THAT BACK YOU ASS-!" I was interupted.

"It has a cloaking spell," The cyclops gave it to his friend, which I still couldn't tell what kind of monster he was. He seemed human, yet something told me he wasn't.

"3 half-bloods? Boss' gonna be happy with that." The smaller one said, with his scrapy voice.

"Yes, Master Luke will be quite pleased..." The Cyclops, which was about 2,5 meters tall had restrained me and Jennie, while the other one knocked Alexia out and lifted her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

Well our adventure had an awful start so far.

We went through endless twists and turns, Jennie kept muttering ancient greek stuff under her breath. Finally another dead end but there was a blue mark right in the middle, the smaller dude put his hand over it. The wall opened with a hiss. A cool breeze hit my face. I don't remember blaking out, but I think the cyclops dropped me on my head. Because the next thing I remember was grogilly waking up with a terrible headache. I was tied, there was a gag over my mouth. Across from me sat a still unconcious Alexia and Jennie, who's eyes were closed, but awake because she was mumbling ancient greek through her gag.

I started to panic, I shook and twisted. The ropes on my wrists cut through my skin and my wrists started bleeding.

"She's awake!" I heard a voice in the distance. I don't know why but I started crying. I think that's when all of this finally sunk in. Life as I knew it ended, greek gods were real, monsters were real, and now, I was going to die. I head footsteps but I didn't care, I mean I was going to die soon anyways right?.

The footsteps stopped and I felt a figure loom over me, and I didn't dare look up, scared of the horror I might see. Hand went under my chip and pulled it up.
A familliar face looked at me. It was the boy with the blonde hair from my memories. Except that now he had a scar going across his face.
