Stacey Pendragon-daughter of the sea

Chapter thirty four

STACEY POV

Everyone lapsed into silence after Annabeth dragged Percy out of the room, shutting the door behind her. After what seemed like an hour,

“What just happened?” I asked to no one in particular. “What happened was that Annabeth decided to eavesdrop and jumped to conclusions before knowing the facts”, Nico replied furiously from his corner of the room.

“You can’t blame her! After all that they’ve gone through, she’s bound to be scared” I argued back, shaking my head. "Just because she’s scared, she can’t go around talking to people that way!"

“Nico, she was just upset!” I defended Annabeth, when Chiron spoke up. “Stacey is right, Nico. You can’t blame her”.

“But…” Nico started but I beat him to it. “Annabeth is right. I am just putting you all in more danger. I’ll just have to leave for this quest alone. I can risk myself, but not you guys anymore”.

“Are you crazy?! Please don’t tell me Annabeth’s words have been getting to you” Nico asked cautiously. “You can’t go out there alone! You know better than any of us about Titania and what she’s capable of”

I knew Nico was right about Annabeth’s words, but I ignored him and turned to Chiron. “You were saying about someone who can help us with Titania. Who is it? And where can we find them?”

“She can be pretty difficult. But if you manage to pursued her, she can be really helpful” Chiron replied. “Who is this mysterious she? And where does she stay?”

“I can’t tell you who she is. You will have to find out on your own. As to where she is, you’ll find her at Hecate’s temple. Not the one in Olympus, but her… you can call it her headquarters”.

“OK, fine. Where is this headquarters?” I enquired, raising an eyebrow. “You can only find it if Hecate wants you to”. “I’ll make sure she wants to meet me”, I smiled and asked, “When can I leave?”

“You’re not going alone! I’m coming with you!” Nico protested, scowling. “No, you’re not!” I spat at him, not believing how stubborn could someone be.Nico recoiled slightly at my tone, but recovered fast enough.

“I know why you’re refusing. It’s because of what Annabeth told you, right?” Nico narrowed his eyes at me. I turned my back at him and walked out like nothing ever happened.

My entire day at camp sucked. Which is the least to say? Apparently, the entire camp overheard Annabeth’s talk with Percy after she dragged him out and came to the conclusion that I was a dangerous person. They all avoided me like I was a disease, moving away whenever I walked by, avoiding eye contact. The only person who was normal towards me was Sam, talking away, pretending nothing happened. Even Nico was nowhere to be seen, making me feel even worse than before.

As night drew, I was so pissed off, I snapped at Sam to leave me alone and walked to cabin three, climbed on the roof and settled down facing the sea, watching the sun set over the horizon. I sighed and began playing with the hair that had come off my braid when I heard someone call out my name. I looked down and saw Nico standing there, eyes narrowed.

“C’mon up!” I called out and he looked at the walls of the cabin uncertainly, sighed and began climbing them up.
