Crystalline Melodies I: Undying Strains
Summary
At age seven, everything started going downhill for Krystal. In fact, for a full decade after that, she was subject to one horrific event after another. The fear, terror, and trauma are very real, but the sequence is almost forced...The nagging suspicion in the back of her mind, whilst mysterious, is pushed to the backburner in the face of more prevalent dilemmas.
In the PAST, she must deal with everything from piracy and work camps to poverty, perversion, and a modern day rendition of The Hunger Games.
In the PRESENT, she must deal with the devastating aftereffects of such an upbringing, as well as navigating foreign cultural and social norms, the supernatural abilities she can never again deny having, and the daily challenges and rigors of a demigod life in this new-found Camp Half-Blood. That's pretty much all she has to handle, much to her relief.
That is, until her old life decides now that things are about to settle down is the perfect time to play karma...
In spite of the physical threats brought up by these scenarios, she must be able to outrun her past. She must keep her new friends from finding out who and what she truly is, for her safety and theirs. She must read between the lines and solve the mystery behind the strings of intertwinement that link her to the lives of those around her. She must keep her inner demons at bay if she wants a second chance -- in more than one way -- at life.
Dreaded secrets.
Buried memories.
Love, friendship, and hope...
Denial, despair, loss, pain, betrayal, and death...
The Fates have more in store for Krystal yet.
Rated R: Intense Action Violence, Scenes of Torture, Infrequent Language, and Mature Themes. (Actually just precautionary right now. Nothing here is R yet, but predicted scenes will likely be.)
Genres: Action, Adventure, Romance, Drama, Psychological Thriller, and Tragedy...
IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT WHEN READING EACH CHAPTER YOU LISTEN TO THE SUGGESTED SONG ACCOMPANIMENT, AS IT WAS CAREFULLY PICKED TO HELP ADD TO THE MOOD OF THE CHAPTER, AND HELPS A LOT WITH FORESHADOWING AND INVOKING A STRONGER REACTION TO THE MORE EMOTIONAL SECTIO--screw scientific explanations, just listen to the song! =P

If you are interested in reading my original work, feel free to check out Being Human.
NOTE: I just want to put out there that my plan is to write this as a PJO fanfiction first (the world fits my needs best), then rewrite it as an original work and hopefully get it published someday down the road. For that purpose, this may be a lot longer and slower than your average fanfiction, and I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't rate it lower based on that. I'm trying my best to make it sound like an actual novel, because that's what it will (hopefully) one day be. This ALSO means that the flashbacks are going to be written in chronological order, but by the time I've finished all the books, they will likely be rearranged. Thanks! :)
