Percy
I awake to the sound of clattering and rumbling. I look around my surroundings. I am in some sort of old-fashioned elevator that is slowly ascending, lit only be glowing red lights in the lift shaft.
I am terrified, paralyzed with fear. What is going on? Why am I here? Who put me here? Am I going to be here forever? How will I get out? These questions and many more flood my head, making me panic even more.
Calm down, I tell myself. I take a deep breath and try to think. I draw a blank. Irritated at my initial attempt, I try again. This time I get something. Percy. My name is Percy. I grin to no one in particular, pleased with myself for figuring that one out. Nothing else comes to mind though. Then something else appears in my head. Another name-Annabeth. Who is she? I can’t remember. I sigh.
In the corner of the room are some wooden barrels. I dare not open them to find out, for I’m scared that they might contain something terrifying. In the dim light, I make out some symbols imprinted in ink on the barrels. I stare at them in confusion.
Then my brain translates them for me. They say T.O.G. Tog? What’s that? And how did I know how to read those symbols? More question for my ever growing list of questions.
As far as I can tell, there are no exits. I look at the ceiling. It seems to be able to be opened. I proceed to check my pockets. Nothing but a lousy pen. Another let down like my memory.
Determined to use it anyway, I uncap it. It suddenly transforms into a sword that seems to be made out of bronze. I smile with delight.
I hack at the ceiling repeatedly, to no avail. Undeterred by my failure, I prepare for another onslaught of attacks.
Before I can even do anything, suddenly the ceiling swings open like a trapdoor, letting in glaring beams of sunlight. I shield my eyes from the blinding rays of light.
“Hey! Take my hand!” A voice calls from above. I can vaguely make out a silhouette of a boy leaning down, stretching his hand out. I reach out weakly and take it gratefully. He pulls me up, studies me and says, “Hi. I’m Frank.”
