The Beginning Of Solangelo

My First Two Days in the Infirmary

If any normal person had woken up in my spot, they would've thought they were dead. But I knew I wasn't dead; I might've felt like I was, but I was alive. I know what it feels like to die and where you end up when you are, it being my dad's realm and all, and this was definitely not either one.
I tried to sit up in the small, firm bed, but found my arms were too weak to support my weight. I lay on my back, my head resting on a soft pillow. The large room was completely bare except for roughly twenty beds, including the one I was laying on, seven other campers, all on the other side of the room, and a small door situated in front of my bed so that I was facing it. All of the walls were stark white. I allowed my mind to wander for the first time since coming back from Tartarus. It finally settled on the battle against Gaea. Guilt floated down and found a place to rest, heavy on my heart. Leo, I thought to myself. Octavian. I had let Octavian kill himself and then he had ended Leo’s life in the process. My thoughts were abruptly ended when doorknob slowly began to turn. I quickly tried to erase the guilt that was plastered across my face. The door swung open. In walked a tall boy with pale blue eyes, tan skin, curly blond hair, and…..
“Nico!” Will Solace exclaimed.“Good. You’re finally awake. I’ll get you some food, darlin’.” He winked at me and left the room. I looked around at the other campers to see if they had heard Will call me ‘darling’, but they were all fast asleep.
“Okay,” I squeaked back, my face growing hot from embarrassment. Did he really have to call me “darling”? Will stepped back into the room with a bowl of soup.
“Sit up, Nico.” Although it took me a couple minutes, I was able to sit up on the bed. Will sat on the edge of the bed and handed me the soup. “Eat,” he commanded. I obeyed. Neither Will nor I talked until I finished the soup. “I’ll be right back.” Will grabbed the bowl off my lap and momentarily brushed his hand against mine. Electricity ran up my hand and arm. How does he do that? Does he feel it too? Will gave me a smirk and walked out the door.
Moments later, Will entered the room again. In his hands he had bandages and a small clear jar filled with silver paste. He firmly grasped my left arm and carefully unwrapped the bandage I had failed to see earlier. The claw marks from Lycaon were beginning to heal. Will ran his finger over the wounds after setting the bandages and paste on the bed. His touch sent electricity up and down my spine.
“Stop doing that!” I exclaimed, quickly withdrawing my arm from his grasp.
“Doing what?” Will asked.
“Shocking me!”
“Shocking you?” Will replied, confusion written across his face. I could feel my face grow red again.
“Uhh… yeah. Every time you touch me, it feels like you are sending electricity through me.”
“Oh,” Will replied, obviously trying to hold back a smile. He eventually caved in and developed a wide grin. “Really? You feel it too?”
My face, if possible, grew even redder. I pulled the white blanket over my head, sending the vial and bandages falling towards the ground. I waited for the vial to hit the floor and shatter, but I never heard it.
“Nico,” he softly said. “I really need to bandage up your arms again.” Keeping my head covered by the blanket, I hesitantly stuck my non-bandaged arm out. Will let out a small laugh and went to work.I flinched as I felt Will smear the cold paste onto the claw marks. He wrapped the bandage around and secured it. I could hear Will’s footsteps as he walked to the other side of the bed. He pulled the blanket off of my head and pulled my other arm out.He unwrapped the bandage while staring at me.
“You talk in your sleep,” Will said, after the silence began to get awkward.
“Wha-… what did I say?” I asked, caught off guard.
“Lots of things. You kept murmuring ‘Bianca’ and, umm..,” he cleared his throat. “And my name. Why?”
“Well, Bianca was my-“
“Yes, yes, I know she’s your sister, but why did you say my name?” Will said, leaning forward, almost giddily.
“I-I really don’t know.”
“Oh.” Will looked crestfallen as he finished wrapping up my arm.
“Okay,” he said. “What happens next stays between us and don’t laugh at me.” I could feel my face grow hot again as my mind made wild assumptions about what Will was about to do. I looked over at him, noting his red face and the hand that was absent-mindedly rubbing the back of his neck. Just then, the most horrible sounding noise began. I reached for my sword, already trying to get out of my bed, but Will pushed me back down. Then, I realized that the horrible-sounding noise was actually Will singing; singing a hymn to Apollo. Will was singing loud enough that I could hear him clearly, but quiet enough that nobody else could hear. It was my turn to stifle a smile. As Will went on, I couldn’t contain myself. A huge smile grew on my face and blossomed into a full-blown laugh.
“Hey!” Will protested, trying to act hurt, but he eventually ended up laughing along with me.
“You, the son of Apollo, god of music, can’t sing?” I asked.
“Not at all. I usually only hum the hymn, but I figured if I could share this secret with anyone, it would be you. Plus, you’ve been asleep for two days; I figured you could use a laugh since your relaxed sleeping face is still a grimace.”
“I’ve been out for two days?” I asked, frowning.
“Yeah. I told you that you needed rest, Death Boy. I was able to heal all your wounds completely except for the werewolf marks, which I changed the bandages for every hour.”
“You do know you have other people in the infirmary, right?” I asked, ignoring the nickname.
“And I have other brothers and sisters. You do know I wasn’t going to let anyone else take care of our most important patient, right?” Will asked, smiling widely. I didn’t know how to respond.
“Will,” I eventually began. “Have you gotten any sleep in the past week?”
“No,” Will replied, as I noticed the prominent dark circles under his eyes. “There’s too much work to do.”
“I can help,” I exclaimed before thinking it through. Like I said to Will two days before, “Why would you want a son of Hades in the same room with people you’re trying to heal?”
“Really? Great, darlin’,” Will said as he helped me get up out of my bed.

Notes

The quote, "Why would you want a son of Hades in the same room with people you're trying to heal?" came from Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan, which I do not own, along with the characters in this fanfic.

Please comment what you thought, as this is my first fanfic, and give me suggestions of what I should have happen in the story.

Thanks for reading!

I'll try to update next weekend!!
