The Hope in Our Scars

“Hey! Lily wait up!”
I didn’t even want to look back to see his face. Leo with his worried brown eyes, his clenched callused fist when he became nervous, and all of his body language that would only make me stop and let him coax me home.
No, I didn’t just want to be one of those sluts, who refused to acknowledge her boyfriend until he took off his pants.
“Lily, just wait.” It wasn’t my fault. I was never a fast runner. I felt his hands clamp over my hands, and pull me towards him. “Hey, stop a minute. Give me a few, okay?”
His fingers slipped through mine. No matter how soothing his motions were my anger still didn’t dissipate. “Do you even love me?” I asked quietly, when I figured struggling would only make the pain worse.
“Yes, actually I really do,” Leo replied. “I adore you,” he said, his voice clear and full of emotion. “I’ll make it up to you. Want the potion? Take it now. I don’t care.”
“No Leo can’t you see?” I instinctively fisted his hair, and stroked his face. “Calypso loves you. I love you. This isn’t going to love, if it ends up as a three way relationship.”
“But Lily, I don’t love her. At least, I don’t love her as much as you are to me,” Leo protested, his brown eyes welling with tears. “Can’t you understand that I’ve never told anyone anything personal except you? Or how I’ve spent so much more time than any of my other friends? And how I’ve never taken anyone virginity before. No one’s-except you.”
My eyes began to water, and new tears-of love and affection, rolled down my cheeks. “Oh Leo, why? I was so stupid to doubt you, Leo.”
“Maybe it was. Or maybe our paths are meant to get difficult in order to cling onto what we really know,” Leo said, his breath ragged and fast. “And maybe we need to always remember-no matter what-that my heart has never before known something about me better than anything else I’ve ever felt or knew. It’s my love for you Lily.”
I didn't want to hear anything from him anymore. Oh shut up.
My lips met his in a matter of miliseconds before he could react. My legs locked around his waist, and his hands felt my hair curled between his fingers. I almost laughed when Leo bumped into a tree stump, and together we fell onto the grass. Our bodies tangled into a heap."No more doubt?" I asked, squeezing his hand. Leo grinned. "Only trust."
He kissed me on the cheek, and grasped my face. "Well said," he replied. "I wonder who ever told you that?"
I burst out laughing. "Only from someone I really love and is dying to kiss me right now."
"Who Calypso?" Leo asked.
"No you, stupid," I said, kissing him on the lips. And he only kissed back.
