Of Vines and Men
One
Halfway through a battle between myself and an Ares kid. He was taller than me by a good foot, broad shoulders. While he wasn't as skilled as his siblings, something told me he could kick my butt any day.
He slashed at my side, which I slid out of the way. I blocked another hit, kicking him in the stomach.
"C'mon, Alec," I breathed, "You can do better."
Alec grinned widely, "I just don't know if you're skilled enough to handle it."
"Gimme your best shot." I grunted, jabbing at him. He hit my arm with the flat of his blade, causing me to let out a yelp of pain, returning the blow quickly.
He slashed, I blocked. I parried his blade and elbowed him in the stomach. He swatted my blade away and hooked his foot behind my knee, sending me to the ground. I yelped, the impact slightly painful. My sword was only a few inches away...
Alec had me pinned, obviously winning this round. "Nice try." I rolled my eyes and reached out for my sword when I heard a familiar voice.
"The amount of jokes I could make." Percy called to me, laughing. I shoved Alec off of me, slightly embarrassed. He said something under his breath before walking away.
"Look who showed up, Jackson."
"I'm surprised you decided to train, Princess." He scoffed, taking out riptide, "But since you're here, mind treating me to a battle?" Percy held out his arms like it was some grand gesture, earning an eye roll from me. After picking up my sword we launched into the duel.
"Come on, you know to hold your elbows higher." I grinned, smacking the flat of my blade into his shoulder. He swings his sword near my face.
"Always protect your face." He grins, blocking one of my jabs. I kick him in the knee, and he falls. I quickly hold my sword to his chest, grinning
"Isn't that your favorite part of me?"
"I like this view better." He said, quickly flipping me over so I was pinned again.
"Well damn, tell Annabeth to wait. The amount of innuendos right now could cause World War III." I grinned at him, causing an angry blush to rise to his cheeks. Percy got up and helped me stand, only for me to pin him to the ground.
"Whoops." He muttered.
"When will you learn?"
He simply rolled his eyes and me after I let him up, dusting off his shirt. I could see Annabeth at the archery range looking over at Percy. She saw me and went back to whoever she was with, making me turn to Percy.
"You gotta ask her out, she's into you."
"What happened in the Labyrinth -"
"Is called you being an idiot." I finished for him, earning an annoyed look from him.
"I don't know, Eve. Even if we did become a thing I'd end up dead at like eighteen or something and she'd be kinda upset that I'm dead." He shrugged, putting pen-form Riptide back into his pocket. With a sigh, I walked over we were a step away from each other.
"That's my point, rather be with her now than never." He looked down at me, literally. He cleared his throat before looking around. Almost like he was about to say something but decided against it.
"Alec looked kinda upset when I got there."
"He tries to get with like all the girls." I muttered, sheathing my sword. We walked towards the rock climbing wall.
"I've heard." He says plainly, staring ahead.
"Listen, Perce, I'm gonna go see Amira and Calum before curfew. Bye." He barely noticed I was already walking off, which was okay. Percy needed time sometimes.
