I was passing threw camp, an earbud in one ear, the other hanging out. I thought I was alone when this song started playing and I started dancing in the middle of the yard.
'When I saw you over there, I didn't mean to stare, but my mind was everywhere, I wanna know you'
As the song got to the chorus, I heard a snort from one of the cabins. I froze up, embarrassed that someone had seen me dancing like an idiot.
"You look like a goofball" The voice said from the steps of Aphrodite cabin, holding back a laugh.
'I guess that you're the kind, to say what's on your mind, but you listen when I got something to tell you'
I blushed dark red, turning to the voice as I straightened up to find the most beautiful girl I've ever seen
'There's a mark above your eye, got it in July, fighting for your sisters reputation. You remember people's names, and valentines are lame so I buy you flowers just for no occasion'
"O-oh yea?"
"Yup" she said with a smirk.
Before I could think of something to say back she stood up, spun around on her heel and walked into the cabin.

Flash Forward; 1 month
I was standing at the river in the middle of capture the flag. My sword at the ready to stop anyone who came by, my job was to protect the flag. That's when she came into view.
'You're smiling and you're proud, you stand out in the crowd, you make the best of every situation'
Spinning past anyone who got in the way she came closer and closer to the river.
My knees started to shake, my heart started to pound. What was I gonna say?! "Remember me, that random guy who was dancing in front of your cabin?" "Hey, I'm gonna stab you now" "You look pretty when you're sweaty and in leather armor."
Before I could think, I dashed forward.
'Correct me if I'm wrong, you're beautiful and strong, a wonderful and perfect combination'

And she ran right past me. Before I knew it, she was making a break for the flag. I shake my head to clear my thoughts and flew after her. I pulled up beside her, keeping her pace. She looked over at me, smirking.
"Hey tiny dancer" I growled, blushing.
"My name is Dave."
She smiled "Avalon. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a game to win." She ran faster, taking the lead and grabbing the flag
'I wanna know you. I wanna go there where you go, wanna find out what you know, and maybe someday down the road. I'll sit back and think to myself'
"Oh no you don't!" I takes her to the ground pinning her down as she looked up at me, her helmet having come off. Something about those eyes, I just couldn't help but look down at her, her hair spread around her like a halo, the moon shining over her face, the sound of fighting echoing around us, slowly fading out.
"Mind getting off me? Kinda need my stomach to breath."
I blushed, standing up and offering her my hand. She smiled, taking my hand before placing her foot to my stomach, flipping me over her and knocking the wind out of me.
'I like how you are with me, I want future history. And maybe some day down the road, we'll sit back and think to ourselves. "Yea I thought so"'
After she had gotten the flag over the river, she came back and bent over me, still lying on the ground.
"Not bad Dave. Not as good as your dancing but..." She smiled weakly.
"Oh yea? I let you win, just wait till next time."
"It's a date." She leaned down and gave a quick peck to my nose before walking off, holding the flag victoriously. Maybe this night wasn't a complete loss after all
