Too guarded
NICO’S POV
The truth as to why I came back, i wasn’t quite sure. I guessesd it was probably because I missed being around people who cared about me, and percy and annabeth were as close at came, in living form anyway.
I almost froze upon entering the big house. It wasn’t because I hadn’t been in here before, I’d been in here countless of times after getting into fights and stuff like that. No, it was because my whole body turned to ice whe I saw the girl sitting up on the bed, gulping down the glass of water as if her life depended on it.
She had caramel brown hair, in a rats nest. With twigs and leaves stickig around. Her shirt was torn and bloody, but at least she didn’t look as if she were bleeding anymore. When she turned to look at them, I was almost blown back by the darkness of her eyes.
They were blacker than the goddess Nyx herself, so deep and dark I felt as if she could see straight into me and every single one of my secrets. I instanslty dropped my gaze, like I was so used to doing, and stayed back by the door while Percy gently sat on her bed.
“hey jade, this is my good friend Nico” he says pointing back at me. She looks up at me again, her big black eyes studying every inch of me, seeking my weak spots, and where best to hit me in a fight. Oh, she was defenitely a demigod. Might be a kid of Athena or Ares with her stance and confidence, like she had seen the worst thinsgs in the world and wasn’t afaird anymore. I believed it as well, as prince of the dead, I knew a thing about misery, and this girl had been drowned in it, and still semed pretty sane. She could also just as easily be a child of Aphrodites, with her looks. I inwardly groaned, the last thing this camp needed was another child of Aphrodite.
“Son of hades” she says, her voice as cold and distant as my own, running down the cold of my back. I was forced to look up and mee her eyes.
“And who do I have the pleasure of meeting” I smirk, “or have your parents not claimed you yet” I answers. She glares at him, her black eyes warning him not to mess with her.
“No need to be rude nico” Percy says. I roll my eyes, and went back to inspecting my nails. “You ready to go to dinner?” he asks her. I don’t hear her response, but it mustve been funny because Percy laughed, stood up, and showed her to the bathroom, and brought her a change of clothes.
When the door closed and the shower turned on, Percy turned to me. “I swear to zeus if you even look at the girl-“
“don’t worry about it cousin, shes not my type anyway. Too guarded” I smirk and turn to leave.
“Like you” Percy suggests. That stops me cold.
“She’s nothing like me”
“No, you're right, she not, she still hasn’t given up yet.”
“Which just makes her stupid” I say loud enough for Percy to hear, and then walk out of the house.
