Marx of the Matrix
Chapter Two
*Present Time*
Matrix POV
I silently crept through the streets of Aramoia. My target, Leonidas Jacques, was a few feet away. He has been illegally trading slaves over the border and stocking black markets.
Leonidas looked behind him, but didn't see me. As a highly trained assassin of Chaos, I can blend in in broad daylight, kill without a sound, and disappear without a trace, all with witnesses around to see it.
I followed Leonidas into the street, which was a dead end. I fired a warning shot at him. Leonidas yelped and turned towards me in fear. When he didn't see anyone, he called out, "Who's there?"
"...."
"Show yourself!" He shouted.
I smirked, tugged on my hood, and fired another arrow. It pinned the man to the wall by his coat.
"Who are you?" He cried.
I stepped out of the shadows. "That, I cannot tell you. But know this, you are going to die for your crimes."
Leonidas had the nerve to laugh. "Why should I be scared of you?"
"Because, you are a target." I simply stated.
Leonidas sneered. "A target of who?"
I smiled, "The Marx."
Leonidas paled instantly, his sneer vanished. "Pl-please! I will change my ways! I will free my slaves! Anything! Just show me mercy." He pleaded.
I scoffed. "Why? We have sent you warnings, but still you did not heed them. Now, it's time for you to suffer the consequences."
Leonidas struggled against the arrows. "Who are you?" He asked.
I took out another arrow and drew it back. "Call me Matrix." I answered. The arrow flew through the air at lightning speed. It silently pierced his chest. Leonidas stopped struggling, he slumped against the wall.
My job was done.
I took out my communication device on my wrist (disguised as a watch). "Tempest, this is Matrix. The assignment is complete. Coordinates are Sierra, foxtrot, Washington, tango." I spoke into it.
Tempest's voice answered me, "Affirmative. Report back to HQ. Overlord has news. Coordinates copied."
I quickly told Tempest okay and teleported back to Chaos' headquarters.
•••
I walked into the conference room. My fellow soldiers were milling around and chatting. Tempest, who was actually Luke Castellan greeted me.
"Hey, Perce! Have you seen Beckendorf or Silena around?" He asked.
I grinned. "I just got here Luke. Besides, they're probably making out in some corner or something."
Luke laughed. "Most likely."
I guess I should explain about Luke, Silena, and Beckendorf being alive. When I was recruited by Chaos, it turned out I wasn't the only one. Chaos had visited Elysium and asked around for soldiers. When he left, Beckendorf, Silena, Luke, Zoë, and Bianca had chosen to become soldiers for a second chance at life.
Luke was the general of the Arclight division, which covered air and space travel. His lieutenant was Zoë.
Beckendorf was the general of the Renegade division, which covered land travel and weaponry. His lieutenant, was obviously Silena.
I was the general of the Atlantis division, we covered the sea travel. My lieutenant was Bianca.
The six of us were the best of the best, also called the Assassins of the Marx. Chaos was constantly sending us out on missions.
Speaking of which, Chaos entered the conference room. We all took our seats.
"Warriors, it has come to my notice that a new foe is rising. It is threatening not only Olympus, but also mankind." Chaos began.
"Hold on! So you're saying we have to go back to Earth?" Luke asked.
Chaos nodded.
"So...we have to save those arrogant pricks...again? Yeah right." I growled.
"Percy, I know how you feel about this. But if you don't accept this, all of mankind will perish." Chaos said.
"Who is this 'threat' anyways?" Silena asked.
"There is more than one. Erebus and Tartarus have joined forces and are rallying their armies." Chaos answered.
"Great." Beckendorf grumbled.
"So...when do we leave?" I asked.
The others stared at him in shock, but Chaos nodded.
"You leave tomorrow morning. Come up with code names, no one should know your identities until you believe they should." Chaos said.
"Perce...are you sure?" Zoë asked.
I nodded, "I'm sure. Am I happy about it? Hell no. But I can't leave those who have nothing to do with my betrayal to die. Now, if you'll excuse me, I want to get in some training and pack." I then got up and stormed out of the room.
Chaos POV
I should've known that Percy wouldn't be on board with this. But he didn't let his anger cloud his judgement. That was admirable.
I left my top assassins to themselves and created a portal to the Empire State Building. I stepped into the lobby.
"L-lord Chaos." The clerk stuttered. I nodded, and teleported to Mount Olympus, hoping no mortals saw anything.
I appeared in the throne room. Zeus stopped, mid-sentence.
"L-lord C-Chaos. What brings you to Mount Olympus?" Zeus greeted me.
"Hello, Olympians. I haven't seen you in eons. What has happened these past few millennia?" I asked in a steady voice.
"N-nothing much, Lord C-Chaos." Zeus answered.
I scoffed at that. "Nothing? Zeus, do not lie to me. I saw what all of you did to your former hero, Perseus Jackson."
Poseidon flinched at his son's name.
"And because of your betrayal, you will be defeated in the upcoming war." I continued.
"Lord Chaos?" Poseidon asked.
"Erebus and Tartarus are rising. And without Percy Jackson, the gods will fall." I answered.
Angry shouts and protests erupted in the throne room.
"SILENCE!" I yelled. The room grew still. "I wasn't finished. Even though Percy Jackson is most likely dead, as he wasn't granted- or even offered- immortality, there is still hope. I have an elite group called the Assassins of the Marx. They have each been trained to the highest level possible. They agreed to aid you in the upcoming war." I continued.
"Why do we need their help? You said so yourself that without Percy Jackson, all hope is lost. Why are these 'assassins' any different?" Alex Rydan, son of Poseidon spoke up.
I laughed, "Young hero. The Assassins of the Marx will balance out the war. Even though there are only six of them, they all have the strength, courage, and determination of 100 heroes each."
Alex sat down.
I turned back to the gods. "But I should warn you, my warriors all have grudges on everyone of you in this room. But be especially wary of my commander, Matrix. He won't hesitate to kill you if you push his buttons." I warned.
And with that thought, I flashed out, leaving the gods dumbfounded.
I this is a very cool story
