The light in our sky

When my eyes opened, I took a while to realize I was still at the infirmary. After I was able to sit on the bed, the first thing I saw was blonde hair.

I was still processing it was Annabeth, when she just jumped out of the chair and hugged me tight. Too tight.

-Ouch!

- Oh my gods! Sorry! I just got a little too much excited that you woke up - she said while letting me go

For the first time since I woke up, which was like 2 minutes ago, I was able to see her.
Annabeth was also a bit injured. She had several bandages, but they didn't seem too bad. At least they must hurt her less than my back.

-How long have I been asleep? - I asked

-Two days??

And I was about asking her about the attack when Chiron came next to me.

-Ahh good Percy, you finally woke up. She stayed here next to you the whole day yesterday you know? - he said while Annabeth's face turned a bit pink.

-But that's not the matter. How are you boy?

- I don't know? I just woke up but my back still hurts. Well.. My whole bones still hurt.

-Ohh I see. I think it's better if you stay here for today and if you get better you can leave tonight. -Chiron concluded.

So I stayed on the infirmary for the rest of the day. But it wasn't that bad, because Annabeth insisted on staying there and help taking care of me.

-Really, you don't have to. You're injured too. - I tried to insist.

But she was really stubborn so she accepted that the Apollo kids could take care of her. But only if she could stay with me.

So she stayed with me for the rest of the day. But something looked wrong with her. Anyway,I was too tired to ask so I stayed normal.

At the end of the day, Chiron came to me and said that in the next morning I could leave but it was better not to take parte on the camp activities.
After he left I turned to Annabeth:

- Hey! I had an idea! Since I can't do anything tomorrow, I was thinking I could take you to a place...

She looked at me, possibly thinks I was going to do something stupid
.
-It's not something dangerous! It's a place i want to take you, and we could stay there. Please!!

She thought for a moment and after thinking she finally agreed.

When it was dinner time, Annabeth left me, waiting for the next day.

I woke up and after getting ready, went to breakfast. I was feeling really happy today. It isn't everyday you can do whatever you want.

Usually the blue pancakes right in front of me would be the first thing to caught my attention. But this time it was a certain blonde daughter of Athena. And it looked I was hers too.

Annabeth was at her table looking at me. She was smiling and the moment she realized i was looking at her she sent me a look saying she prefered to be here with me rather than at her table.

I smiled at her too, trying to say that i wanted her here too. After that, she looked at her food again and continued to eat. So I did the same.

This lasted only for a second, and took only one look but we understood each other.
After the breakfast ended, i took the first opportunity to talk solo to Annabeth.

-Hey!

-Good morning for you too seaweed brain

-So.. ready for today??

- I think.. - She answered still in a indecision tone

-Oh c'mon! I just got beaten by a cyclops! I don't pretend to get almost killed again!

She looked at me trying to make a serious face and not laugh at the same time.

-With you I never know! -Was her answered.

-Although I don't still know what the hell are we going to do....

-If I told you it wouldn't be a surprise anymore - I tried to tease her

-Hey! No one said anything about surprises!! - She complained

- Me! Like.... two seconds ago! Okok I can only tell you one thing.

- What?

- You're better take some swimming clothes.

-What?! I'm getting scared! - she tried to protest but I let her with all the doubts.

After that I went to my cabin to get my stuff and ten minutes after (If my room was a bit more clean it would have been five) I was at the Athena cabin waiting for my girlfriend.

After Annabeth get ready we went to the "surprise" place. But something was wrong with her. During the whole time we took to get there she didn't say a single word. We walked into the florest until we arrived at a place near a river.

-That's here! - I said more excited than what I was supposed.

After looking around for two seconds Annabeth finally said something.

-Ok. I don't think it's dangerous. - And sat on the grass with me.

A few more silent seconds.

-Hey! What's up? You seem strange. - I asked her

- What? No I'm normal. - was her answer, though I could tell she was lying.

- Ohh c'mon! You can tell me. - I insisted

- Fine! - She gave up on hiding whatever it was.

- I have something important to talk to you. But you're still a bit injured from the attack and this place is so peaceful and I didn't wanted to ruin the day. Besides, it's something that can wait.

I just looked at her.

-Fine! But don't think you can escape from telling me.

She looked at me and smiled.

-What about going to swim and forget this for a while?? -She suggested

Of course being on the water was something I couldn't resist so i ran to the river. But I made sure to drag Annabeth too.

- Look what you did! My clothes are all wet now!!! - She complained.

-Is not like we are going to need them for a while... - I said joking.

So, we went to put our clothes near the rest of the things, to get them dry.

-You're so going to pay for that! - was all I heard before getting pushed into the water.

- And you still think that you can take revenge on the water! - I laughed at the annoyed girl in front of me.

-Just shut up! - she said. Next she threw her arms around my neck and two seconds later we were kissing.

- Good way to win a fight ( :P) - I commented after we pulled apart

- I always win seaweed brain - Annabeth winked at me in a flirting tone

- Ohh that's what you want then..

I said before splash some water on her.

She wasn't expecting it at all and got all surprised. When she realized what happened she threw me water back but it hadn't any effect on me.

- Hey! Stop cheating!

-I'm not cheating! These are my natural powers!

- So stop using them!

-Only if you admit I won this time

- Never gonna happen - Her pride was just too much

And she kept throwing water at me until she realized it was useless. When it happened she just got out the water and looked at me very serious.

-Fine. You won this time! But ONLY THIS! And things are not going to stay like that.
After hearing these words I couldn't help but smirk. On the other hand; Annabeth was pretty serious about loss against someone.

-What about lunch? - I asked getting out of the water

-Well.. I'm already a bit hungry

So i went to pick the magic picnic basket nex to us. How and why I still had it I had no idea. But it was pretty useful on situations like this so i just didn't care.

We take our lunch and ate next to each other in silence.

-You know... -Annabeth broke the silence - being here with you and this basket remembers me of that stupid Mary's plan

- Oh.. So you think it was stupid hun?

- Not what I meant.. Ohh you know..

-Just joking relax. Ahh and by the way. What was that really important thing you wanted to tell me??

Her expression changed with the change of subject and the reference to her problem..

-Seems like i have no choice... Ok are you sure you're ready to hear it?

- I guess. i don't know until you do it.

- Ok.. I had these conversation with Mary on the other day.. And she told me some things that.. Well.. I wasn't expecting at all.. and I feel like I should tell you, because some are about you..

-Me?? - I asked surprised. How?

- So.. You know when I had these fight with my mother right??

- Yeah. About me right? Wasn't that ages ago?? I thought everything got fine. Did you two fought again?? - I asked worried, don't knowing what it had to do with Mary
.
- Calm down! Everything is still fine! Well kind of. As I was saying, it happens that some other goddess, Aphrodite, listed to the conversation...

-Uhn ok... And? - I asked still not getting where it had to do with me.

- And soo she asked Mary to made up a plan to make my mother see that I should date you... Like it was her problem.. And she said yes..

I waited in silence for her to continue.

- The plan was to show her that you could do anything for me, including fighting monsters.. Like you haven't done it before.
..
Now I was seeing where this was going.

- And it happens that the cyclops you fought on the other day, and me getting tied to a tree was all part of the plan... But it went a bit wrong and.. Well.. It's kinda Mary's fault that you almost died...

When she finished talking I just stood there a minute without saying anything. It was just too much to take at the same time.

-Wow! - Was all I managed to say

- There is more.

- Ohh

- When her mother saw that the plan had failed, she asked for a new one.. And she said yes again!

- What?! - I asked

- I know.. But as I said, I talked to Mary. She apologized directly to me so I forgave her.. And know we are kinda friends..

- Annabeth and Mary friends?! - I thought to myself. This conversation was having more surprises than i was expecting

- And I agreed to help her with the plan. Because I don't want to think I'm going to loose you again... - Annabeth started to cry.

- Hey! It's not your fault! And I'm still here with you. If you want, i can help with the plan too - I tried to confort her.

She looked at me, still sobbing, so I held her in my arms.

- Thank you. For everything. - she said after calming down.

I kep quiet and she snuggled into my arms.

- You know.. -She continued - while you were at the infirmary I was there everyday taking care of you..

I probably blushed

- uhh.. Yeah... Thanks..

By now, she had already stopped crying.

- You're really a seaweed brain.
