Here I am. At the place my Mom moaned about all the time. Camp Half Blood. I draw my swords and spin them on my palms delicately. Mother trained me well with my twin blades: Spinner and Waver. Eagle, Hawk and Alaska all draw their own weapons. Alaska wields her favorite spear, Trinkity and her leather and bronze shield Tranuk confidently. Eagle nocks a silver tipped arrow into his bow and waits mutely. Hawk selects a sharp, slender blade and a chunkier, blunter dagger from his belt and waits.
I study the hill in front of us and use my powers to search for immediate danger. None. I indicate to the others to relax.
"Ok, guys, remember, we met in New York, got trained by an older demi-god and made our way here." I remind them, before starting to stumble up the steep hill. After a tiring climb, we all reach the tree that Alaska's Mom told her about. We all share a grin and start to hurry down the hill, screaming and shouting.
A large group have gathered by the time we arrive, at their centre a slender, blue eyed blonde girl. She walks forward and studies us. Her eyes linger on Eagle and Hawk, and I can tell from Alaska's expression that she's gonna be keeping Hawk very close for a while. I scowl when she turns to Eagle. I love Eagle with all my heart. No-one even touches him without my say so. I glare and she reluctantly tears her gaze from him.
"I am Astra Bright, "I announce, and thank my Mom for all her lessons on Charmspeak. I look toward a group of guys about my age and smile at them sweetly. "I am thrilled to be here at last. I have heard an awful lot of stuff about here. Especially about the guys..." Alaska and I both giggle and I eye a boy near me. He drops his sword in shock. I laugh even more.
The boys give their names, followed by Alaska grinning chirpily and introducing herself. I nod to Alaska and she closes her eyes. Within moments, the whole crowd are bowing, in awe of the signs above our heads. Mine is a.... not sure. But it is my moms sign. Alaska has a snowflake. Eagle and Hawk have lightning bolts. Eagle steps forward. "We are extremely powerful. We will prove it to you. A game of capture the flag is due tonight. All of you vs us. And another. Caine Bright is on our team.
