Shattered

The climb down was full of blisters and rocks cutting into the palms of their hands. Piper could see little drops of her blood stick to the rocks. The air was tinted red, the color more prominent the lower they went. She could feel Percy's panic and the fear Frank was hiding, but there was no point. They wouldn't need to be a child of Aphrodite to feel her anxiety, it was practically pouring off of her, and their emotions mixing together led to slip ups. There had already been three times when Percy's footing slipped, but his grip kept him from plummeting to his death.
Piper looked over her shoulder, the ground below them was still about fifty yards beneath them. She pressed her forehead to the rocks in front of her, trying to even her breath for a moment and tuning out the sounds around her. Pushing away the sounds of monsters below them and the breaths of Percy and Frank, she reminded herself that it was possible. It was possible to make it through Tartarus, to get Annabeth back, to be happy. It was possible.
With shaky hands, she began the descent again. The climbing was slow and tedious work, they had climbed down a few dozen yards, then in a split second she felt someone grab her ankle, and she almost fell.
"Piper! Don't let go!" She heard Frank say from next to her. She looked down, seeing Percy pulling on her ankle. His handholds had collapsed, and he almost fell. His right hand clawed for a hold, and when he found one, his grip loosened. Piper watched as Percy got his footing again, and she started climbing down again.
Well, she would've been climbing if her own holds didn't crumble under her weight. She let out an earsplitting shriek as she began falling, the river Cocytus flowing beneath her.
The icy water enveloped her, and everything slowed.
You can't save her.
She won't want you when you find her again.
No matter who helps you, you'll never make it.
You'll never be happy.
Piper, even your father doesn't spend time with you.
Just let me make it go away.
Let me help you die.
Whispers clouded her thoughts, and her eyes closed to the milky water. She could barely hear Frank and Percy's yelling over the whispers of despair in her ears. Maybe she should listen to them .They were right. Maybe.....
