Mortal Gods

Chapter 3: The Demigod Guides

✡ONE WEEK LATER✡

Sophia made her way to her cabin. Unlike Dmitri, hers was made by her mother and was built on land.

Her cabin was made of quartz, despite her constant complaints of it being too royal, Sophia secretly liked it.

The cabin was the size of a a basketball court and it only had one level. The cabin was designed by the famous Annabeth Chase, who was Sophia's role model even though the Architect was dead.

It had a modern yet oldish type of style to it. There was a red roof made of roof tiles on top of the building and huge blue tainted glass windows at the front and sides of the house.

Drenched in sweat from her two hours training, Sophia sighed and flung open her dark oak door before locking it behind her.

She walked past her living room, kitchen and dining room and finally reached a door.

Opening the door, she was met with her neat bedroom. Silver painted walls, a queen sized bed pushed to the side of a room, a desk with a red leather chair, a white closet and a red dressing table.

Sighing, she lay down on her bed, crumpling the bed sheets. She was worried about returning back to Camp Half-Blood.

Would they mock her like they did before? Make her life a living Tartarus again?

She shook her head. No, she would not tolerate it. She was more powerful than before. She just wanted to fit in. Ever since she arrived at Camp Half-Blood at the tender age of four, she remembered every single day.

When she arrived, she was mocked for not being able to do anything since she was so tiny. She was mocked by her cabin mates for not having grey eyes but rather, silver glassy eyes.

Out of an old habit, she traced the scar on her right thigh. The white scar ran all the way down to her knee, standing out against her tan skin.

It was a constant reminder that she would never be good enough by the campers and her father.

Her father was another person she never wanted to talk or even think about. She still held a grudge against Athena for leaving her to fend for herself against her father.

Suddenly, a knock on the large window beside her bed snapped her out of her daydreaming. She looked up and saw Dmitri standing there, the corners of his mouth turned upwards, representing a tiny smile.

'The group is here.' Dmitri mouthed and Sophia got off her bed and grabbed her black backpack which was enchanted by the Gods.

The black backpack had a never ending space and no matter what you put in, it would still feel as light as a feather and remain the same size.

Slinging the already packed backpack, Sophia gave a quick glance at the mirror and walked out of her cabin, already missing it.

Jogging towards the direction of where the Gods, Dmitri and the demigods were assembled, she mumbled an apology before standing next to Dmitri.

"Please introduce yourselves." Zeus went straight to the point without saying any greeting. They each said their name, some with grim looks on their faces while some with smiles.

In the end, there was Alaric, Lily, Sabrina, Klaudia, Nick and Ethan who were the demigods that were going to guide Dmitri and Sophia back to Camp Half-Blood.

"So, what now? We go off to our certain doom I'm guessing?" The tallest demigod rolled his eyes, arms across his chest with an emotionless look on his face.

Hades looked at the boy and gave him a curt nod with the corners of his mouth tugging upwards. "Ethan, my son, I hope you do survive the journey back to Camp Half-Blood." Hades clapped his hand on Ethan's back.

Ethan huffed, raising one of his eyebrows. "I don't give a shit if I survive or not. If I die, so be it." While everyone else inched away from Ethan, Hades simply let out a low evil laughter that made everyone, besides his Son, shiver.

Once the demigod guides had discussed their plans and the Gods and Goddesses finished talking with Dmitri and Sophia, they all began to get their things.

"Demigods, we wish you the best of luck and may the Fates ever be in your favour." Athena said, her voice loud and filled with pride.

Zeus rolled his eyes, giving his daughter a playful glare. "Thank you Athena, for taking my line." Athena's lips curved up into a small smile before dropping down again into a thin line at the thought of her daughter not surviving the way back to Camp Half-Blood.

"Is that a Hunger Games reference?" Klaudia leaned towards Sophia, asking her the question. Sophia stiffened at the sudden contact of the demigod but nonetheless answered with a 'yes'.

Klaudia gave the demigod beside her a look of concern before leaning away. "Your mum is so cool. I wish my mum-" Klaudia stopped mid sentence and went back to playing with the sleeve of her jacket.

Sophia looked at the girl beside her, wondering why she looked so familiar and suddenly, a thought of a Daughter of Poseidon being friends with her in Camp appeared in her mind.

"Klaud?" Sophia asked in disbelief, shock shining in her eyes.

"Yeah... That's my name, don't wear it out!" Klaudia joked. Sophia stifled a laughter and replied, "It's me! Sophia?"

Klaudia turned towards Sophia, her eyes widened and gasped. "Soph? Oh my gods, it's actually you!" Klaudia grinned, wrapping her arms around Sophia, squeezing her into a tight hug.

Pulling away from the hug, Sophia gave Klaudia a once over. Wavy midnight black hair, with the bottom dyed greenish blue, that cascaded down her back and shoulders, bright blackish brown eyes, unusual for a spawn of Poseidon, that sparkled with life and full rosy red lips, even though she wasn't wearing lipstick.

She wore a military green jacket, a v-neck white shirt and a pair of black tights. To top it off, she wore her very familiar black ankle boots. She was short but had a lean hourglass figure. Overall, she was beautiful.

"Sorry, I didn't recognize you. Are you in your real form or a random person?" Sophia asked, her forehead wrinkled.

Klaudia gave a light chuckle and placed her hands on her hips. "Real form." She replied and Sophia gave her friend a once over.

Besides being a Daughter of Poseidon, Klaudia was a shape shifter. She changed her features to shift into a person but that tended to be more strenuous. She usual just thought of the person's name she wanted to shift into and slowly, she would.

"Demigods! We, the Olympian Council, wish you the best of luck. We hope Tyche blesses you, may you make it back to Camp Half-Blood safely." Zeus boomed.

With that said, the demigods bid farewell and soon, they disappeared in a flash of light. Once the light settled down, they found themselves in the middle of the forest where the mountain was located.

From far away, Dmitri could make out a tiny tall dot and knew, that was The Application mountain.

Sighing, he turned around to face the group. "Let's get going then." He commanded, his usual blank expression not on his face.

This time, his eyes showed sadness, for leaving his home, and a guarded look was on his face.

He didn't trust the Greek Demigods. If they all turned out to be as bad as the way they treated Sophia, well, they deserved to rot in Tartarus.

"Let's get going then, mate." Nick said with his thick British accent, allowing Dmitri and Sophia to know he was probably from Britain.

Nodding their heads, everyone began to trek through the forest, keeping in groups.

Dmitri stood at the front of the group with Ethan, ignoring the very obvious glares he was receiving from Ethan.

Klaudia and Sophia chatted animatedly, catching up after many years of being apart.

Alaric, Lily and Sabrina were playfully shoving each other. Sophia, who was standing behind that group, noticed how Alaric's gazes lingered on Sabrina's face longer than it should.

Suddenly, a loud roar echoed in the forest and the demigods jumped in surprise. Looking around, Dmitri noticed the trees in the distance behind them getting knocked down.

The roar sounded in his ears and Dmitri connected the two clues together.

"RUN!" He shouted. "Why?" Ethan scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest, looking like he didn't have a care in the world.

Sophia looked behind her shoulder and her eyes widened. She rubbed the gem that hung on her necklace, her two katanas appearing in her hands.

Glowing under the sun, her katanas made her look fierce. Sophia pointed her gold katana at a large figure in the distance. "That's why."

In all his glory, there stood the Titan Iapetus, his ten feet figure towering over everyone and a large spear in his hands. A large tiger stood by his side, growling.

Strangely, Iapetus and the tiger were all black, their skin, their eyes, their hair.

"Oh shit." Alaric cursed, the demigods getting into their fighting stances.
