The Hunter

Shadows

The hunters cheered. Many of them had been saved by Percy, and many more of them had heard of his goodness. They would fight with him, male or not.
A growl, low and sour sent a shiver up everyone’s spines.
Percy turned, suddenly on alert, for the source of the sound. His eyes fell on an empousa, and a familiar one at that.
Kelly
Percy unsheathed his sword and drew Riptide but it was too late. A group of swordsmen repelled from the trees, at least 2 for every one of the hunters. Their weapons glowed with a dark pulsating energy. They attacked the hunters, who were not expecting such a move and within seconds the hunters were all down, wounded, unconscious, or worse. Artemis drew her bow, and started glowing with power, but then a bronze net fell from the treetops and pinned her to the ground. A Hephaestus net. She couldn’t move. The Hunters were all down.

Percy turned to face the army. He rose on the shadows, and the army quickly moved to a phalanx formation. With a roar, Percy dove at them. The army began to throw spears at him as he dove, he knocked them aside. He landed, and the first swordsman tried to strike him. Percy braced himself, and the sword broke against his skin. He stabbed the swordsman through the gut, pulled his sword out, and moved on. Two swords came down in two overhand blows to the head. Percy raised his two swords, parried the attacks, and swung his twin blades around again.
Two more corpses fell to the ground. Their heads followed swift. Another swordsman rushed forward. Percy recognized them (with difficulty) as a female. He moved to engage her, and she proved to be a better fighter than the rest of them. She struck, using short, quick, powerful blows. Percy parried these with some difficulty, and went back on attack. He swung at her head, and she rolled under the swing. He turned to face her, and found she was already gone. Interesting trick thought Percy. He looked back to the army
And found a sword tip jammed under his chin. There she was. Percy attempted to swipe her sword away with his, and she retracted it and followed with a sharp kick to the midsection. Percy fell backwards. His Chaos sword flew from his hand. Riptide slid from the other, just out of his reach. He rose on the shadows, only to be knocked from the air again by the girl. She had removed her helmet.
“Take him.”
He felt hands roughly tying his wrists to a board. This was the end. He would never get to Annabeth.
Annabeth.
He shouted with all the force he could muster, and broke the restraints. He held out his hand, and his chaos sword flew to it, turning to an axe in midair. He struck the ground, sending a crack straight through the ground, and many soldiers began to stumble. Some fell into the widening crack, which glowed with fire. Percy pulled the axe from the ground, and swung behind him, sensing somebody there. A very startled Kelly toppled over, leaving her legs still standing as her body turned to dust. The female swordsman leaped from a tree, her sword above her head in a blow that would cut him in half. He raised his axe to parry, but he knew it was two late.
The swordsman faltered. She landed awkwardly, and fell to the ground.
“Please… I surrender.” She said
Percy walked over to her, and offered her a hand to get up.
Quick as lightning, she pulled him to the ground, catching his face on her knee as he went. She got up just as fast, and planted another heavy kick in his ribs. She raised her sword, and swung down in a killing blow.
Percy caught the sword with his metal arm. He squeezed it so hard the blade bent, the point facing his chin. He tossed it to the side, and rose, kicking at the swordsman. She dodged, and showed she was also good in hand to hand combat. She punched him in the stomach, and then in the nose. Percy reeled, feeling blood start to run over his mouth and down his chin. He swung again, but was blinded by rage and fury. She ducked under the punch, and kicked him in the back of the knee, bringing him down. She grabbed him in a chokehold from behind, and wrestled him to the ground.
Percy had had enough. He flipped her over and threw her against a tree. He raised his metal arm, and punched so hard he punctured her breastplate. He felt blood on his face, saw it dripping to the ground. He saw the shine of more blood on her face, around her eyes.
No. Not blood. Tears.
Percy stopped the savage attack and looked at her. He realized why she was crying. She was afraid. Afraid of him. He suddenly felt horrible. He wasn’t a hero. He was a monster. He fell to the ground next to her and quickly and mercifully passed into unconsciousness

Notes

So yeah. Percy’s not as badass as we all thought he would be. I figured he should be just a bit more powerful. He is mortal after all. Hope you guys liked the fight scene, I’ve never done any before. This was a small peak at what the war may be like. Emphasis on small.
Hope you guys liked it!
