Sunny Love

1. Chores

Will glanced up from Percy’s wound, blue eyes coming to land on the girl across the infirmary as she scrawled numbers onto a page. It was only for a few moments, before he returned to gently applying a salve onto the cut in front of him. ‘So, you got this from Leo?’

‘Don’t rub it in,’ the teen muttered with a quiet pout. Folding his arms, Percy slouched and chewed his lip intently. He swept his black hair from his view before he turned to look at the medic over his shoulder. ‘So, Will…’

‘What?’

‘Have you asked her out yet?’

Quickly, Will’s cheeks burned red. The freckles became lost in the heat, oceanic eyes squinting a glare towards the son of the sea god. ‘No.’ He mumbled, fingers pressing a little harder onto the corners of the cut. Satisfied when Percy yelped, he let off the pressure. ‘I ended up asking her to take inventory for me.’

‘Again?’ Percy whined, slouching onto the pillow in his arms. He buried his face into it and groaned into the blue case.

Percy was one of the few aware of Will’s infatuation with the daughter of Iris, the others being Annabeth, Leo, Piper (and by extension, the Aphrodite cabin), Rachel and Nico. He was also aware of how many times Will had tried to ask [Y/N] out.

Amusingly, the son of Apollo had never managed it. His attempts always turned into him asking for favours, no matter how much help he received from other demigods. It was the third time this week that he had asked her for inventory- to which she had happily agreed. (‘Again, Will? Did you lose the inventory list I wrote?’)

‘Maybe we should-‘

‘I don’t need your help.’ Will shot, pulling Percy’s shirt to cover his newly bandaged cut. He flicked the bright blonde hair from his face and turned to wash his hands in a bowl of warm water- provided by [Y/N]. He took the towel Percy offered and sighed to himself. ‘I just, need a little more time to make sure everything’ll go right.’

Percy shrugged to himself and gave Will a pitying look. ‘She isn’t going to wait, Will,’ he asserted. He picked up his pen from the side table and slid it into his pocket before he took his leave.

‘Will, could you come sign off?’ [Y/N] called from the supplies cupboard. The daughter of Iris had her back to him as he approached, still scrawling on a note pad. It wasn’t until Will approached, that she held out the note to Will and put the pad down.

He took it, pen in hand to sign it as his eyes skimmed over the words and numbers. His cheeks seemed to explode into a red mess. ‘[Y/N], this isn’t an inventory list-‘

‘It’s the phone number for my phone and my dad’s house,’ she replied. Leaning over, she pecked his freckled cheek before strolling away. ‘But feel free to Iris message me. I’d like to get together over the break.’

The son of Apollo watched over his shoulder, gaping a little. A small, unintelligible squeak escaped him. ‘…or she could make the first move. Tell her to do a chore,’ he muttered. ‘And I got her number. Is it meant to work like that?’
