A Maiden's Son (Returning)

Chapter 2

Annabeth POV
When Percy spoke those words I knew immediately what he wanted. It was something he and I had talked about briefly for the past few months but decided to wait. Still though, I could tell he was getting restless and I knew I was. I waited for a few minutes after Percy left before excusing myself. Piper gave me an ‘I know what you’re about to do’ look but the others seemed pretty oblivious as they continued on with dinner. The slight sound of running water filled my ears as I walked down the hall, Percy must be showering. I looked down at myself and decided it was best to get the animal fur and blood off of me as well. I couldn’t help but blush for a long, long time. Percy was ready but was I? It was huge for me too and I knew that my mother, who still was kind of iffy towards Percy, would never approve. I was just now eighteen, Percy and I weren’t married, and it was potentially dangerous. I just hoped Percy had considered the consequences as well but then again, I don’t love him for his intelligence. I made sure to make myself extra fine for him, even slipping into the lacey blue bra and panties he likes to catch me in from time to time. I poked my head out of my door and saw no one coming. The only sounds were the laughing back in the dining hall and the soft whir of machinery. Each step I took towards Percy’s room lasted a life time until my hand finally found its way to knocking three times on the polished bronze. Percy answered in a black t-shirt and his grey boxers with an owl pattern.
Damn he’s so cute I thought to myself.
“Hey wise girl.” He said.
I could feel myself blushing as I stepped inside and pressed my lips against his. The door closed behind us and he put his hands on my waist softly. With one hand I cupped his cheek and with the other, jabbed him in the gut after breaking the kiss.
“Ah what the hell?!” Percy exclaimed when he fell to the floor.
I didn’t want to admit it but his solid abs had almost broken my fingers. I place my hands on my hips and looked at him with a smidge of contempt.
“I’m not ready yet, Percy.” I said.
“Clearly. But you could have just said so.”
“I know we’ve talked about doing it but I told you I’d say when I was ready.”
“But that look you gave me…”
I raised my hand to cut him off.
“I was thinking about it. I really was. But when I say I’ll let you know I will let you know, eventually.”
I helped him up and stepped in closer. He flinched as I did, afraid I was going to punch him again but I pulled him into another kiss.
“I’m getting mixed signals here, Beth.”
“Look Percy, neither of us have been eighteen for long and we both have responsibilities as heroes at Camp Halfblood. Surely you know of the consequences that could if we… you know.”
“Yes, I know. But we’d be careful, we’ve been planning this right? Look, I’m sorry but that look you gave me I saw as you telling me you were ready without announcing it in front of everyone else.”
He had a point. I could feel the atmosphere of the room calm down as we paused. He saw my points and I saw his.
“Look,” he continued, “I’ll wait for you. I’ll wait even when the gods fade for you. I love you, wise girl. That’s not going to change.”
He pulled me tighter in his embrace. He grinned and looked at me with those soft green eyes. Those beautiful sea green eyes. Gods he’s so hot. It was almost making me take back everything I had just said.
“I love you too seaweed brain.” I started to chuckle.
“What’s so funny?”
“It’s just, naturally the son of Poseidon would want to do it for the first time on a boat.”
He started to chuckle as well.
“We could do it in the library of this boat when you’re ready.”
We both started to laugh. We didn’t do it that night but we still slept together. Nothing more than sleeping. The slow movement of the ship on the waves as well as Percy’s slight smell of the sea was enough to drift me to sleep soon enough. It wouldn’t be a good rest, though. In my nightmare I saw a familiar place in flames. There were columns and stone buildings and the whole place had an ancient and cultural feel. It wasn’t Camp Halfblood, this seemed to have a different vibe. It was familiar but different at the same time. I was wearing a pure white tunic and people in similar garb were running behind and away from me. The whole place was in flames. Even the sky was blood red. I could hear laughing. Not a deep laughing like Atlas or a shrill sound like Kronos. This laughing was slower and weaker, like an old man with asthma trying to breathe.
“Come closer, Annabeth. You will be the first to feel my heat.”
I tried to walk, I tried to scream but nothing happened. Hands made from fire shot out and grabbed my ankles, holding me back with a searing heat.
I saw a silhouette of a man through the fire, walking towards me with a sword in hand. The next thing I saw was Percy’s green eyes, filled with panic as he woke me up.
