Percy whined about leaving the whole way back to Camp Half-Blood. It killed me inside to see him so upset, but we had to do as Chiron said. Percy was coughing up blood, and that’s not good. He’s still worried about his mother, but he needs medical help right now. If anything happens to Percy, I don’t know what I’m going do. It’ll be my fault. I sang to him until he fell asleep on top of Blackjack. Blackjack was freaking out almost as much as I was. We both knew that something was very, very wrong. When we got to Camp Half-Blood, mostly everyone was still playing Capture the Flag. Chiron waited for us at the infirmary. Percy was still sleeping, but he was flipping around every so often. Percy is going to be okay. I kept telling myself. I was sitting by his side in a chair as he slept. Somewhere between arriving and waiting for him to wake up, I dozed off.
“Annabeth, stop!” Sally screamed.
“I have to do this,” I yelled back. “It’s my only option.”
“No it isn’t,” said Percy, who was picking himself back up off the floor. “Kill me instead,” Percy said to a shadowy figure in the corner. “They don’t deserve to die.”
“Neither do you!” Cried Sally. “I can’t let you do this.” Percy wiped some sweat off of his forehead and walked towards the shadowy figure.
“No!” I screamed, but Percy had slowly faded away.
“No!” I woke up screaming, and realized that Percy was still here. In fact, he was awake. He was sitting up in the bed.
“Annabeth you’re okay.”
“Yeah, are you?”
“Chiron said I’ll be fine. We don’t know what happened though.”
“It scared me.”
“I don’t really remember what happened.”
“Be thankful.” Percy lied back down and closed his eyes. “Are you okay?” I asked.
“Just a little dizzy. I’m fine.” I fell into his arms and felt his warmth. His beautiful green eyes were staring right at me. I kissed his lips and grabbed his hands.
“I love you, Seaweed Brain.”
“I love you, Wise Girl.” This time he kissed me. I looked at the door and pulled away. Percy didn’t know why I stopped, but I of course did. Grover was standing in the door way watching.
"What's up, G- Man?"
"Um, just came to see you. Is this a bad time?"
"It's fine." Grover walked in and sat down next to me.
"So are you guys a thing now?"
"Yeah. Sorry we didn't say anything," I apolagized.
"That's cool," Grover looked around the room. "So what happened?"
"I don't know," said Percy.
"He scared the shit out of me. That's what."
"It's not my fault."
"I know."
"Oh, I'm glad you're okay."
"Thanks, man."
"I'm gonna go to sleep now, By man. I'll see you tomorrow?" Asked Grover standing up.
"I'll be gone before you wake up tomorrow, man. You can come too if you want to," Percy offered.
"Anything for my best friend."
"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow."
"Yeah, you too." Grover walked out and started running into the night.
"Percy, I love you. You should really get some sleep, and so should I."
"I know. I love you too, goodnight."
"Goodnight." I kissed him again, and left the room. Back in the Athena Cabin, my sibblings couldn't wait to ask me questions.
"Do you like him yet?"
"Are you in love with him?"
"What happened?"
"Yes I like him, yes I love him, and we don't know what happened. Look, I want to know these things just as much as you do, but guys, I have to go to sleep right now."
"Did she just say she loves him?" Someone asked someone else.
"He's her boyfriend dummy." I crawled into bed, not even bothering to change out of my jeans. It's been such an exhausting day and I'm just done right now.
"Goodnight, guys."
"Goodnight, Annabeth." I fell right asleep.
