The Son of Chaos

Athens

CHAPTER XII

We had finally made it to Athens, Greece. In case your wondering, I did finally get my bagel. It was good. Leo set course for the Parthenon. Along the way, we got attacked by several monsters. These were strange monsters. None of us had ever seen these monsters in the States, so they were probably ancient creatures, here in Greece since the Titans ruled. They were difficult to destroy. Most of them breathed fire, some had huge jaws, and others had claws as long as my leg. We were exhausted by the time the Parthenon came into view from the Argo II. Annabeth acted normal, but I could see in her eyes that she was ecstatic. When the ship landed, she was the first one on the ground. We walked into the Parthenon, and the first word that came out of my mouth was "Wow". The place was enormous. In the center of the room, there was a gigantic, square pedestal. The pedestal was empty. Beside it was a plaque that said "The Athena Parthenos". I said"Come on. We need to search for a switch. The Giants' lair is underneath it". The others all looked at me like I was crazy."I saw it in a dream" I explained to them. They seemed to understand immediately and went to searching. Hazel found something under the plaque. It was a button. Annabeth said "We should come back at night, when the Parthenon closes, so we can get a better look". It was a good idea. So, we went back to the Argo II to wait until night.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------LATER THAT NIGHT-
After a quick nap to re-energize, we quickly and quietly sneaked through the streets of Athens to the Parthenon. The streets were unusually quiet, almost as if the world was holding it's breath, waiting for a disaster to befall us. With our luck, many disasters would befall us. We were fine until we made it to the Parthenon. That was when it hit the fan. As we were walking, the ground started to soften around us. Hazel was the first to notice and she quickly whispered, "Guys, I think Gaea's up to her tricks again. Watch your step". As Hazel spoke, we heard Piper yelp. When we turned to where Piper was standing, all we saw was her arm, quickly sinking into the ground. Next was Leo, then Frank. It happened too fast for me to respond. Next thing I knew, I was twenty feet underground, in a vast chasm. The chasm had an air of importance. As I looked around, I understood why. The chasm looked suspiciously like the throne room on Mount Olympus. In fact, the chasm was basically a replica of the Mount Olympus throne room, only darker and a lot more underground-y. There were 13 seats( 2 for the anti-Dionysus/ Bacchus), but only seven were occupied. But in those seven occupied seats sat Polybotes, Alcyoneous, Enceladus, Ephialtes and Otis, Clytius, and Porphyrion the Giant King. It was a truly terrifying moment for me and my friends. The Giants, however, looked as if they were expecting us, their facial expression not showing a hint of surprise. "Welcome to our lair, demigods. We have anxiously awaited your arrival", said Porphyrion. "Nice to see you, too", I said, my voice full of sarcasm. "Come now, Jackson. No need to be sarcastic. I have waited for this day for thousands of years and I don't want it to be spoiled", said Polybotes. "And what is so important about this day?", I asked him. "Why, today is the day we awaken Gaea, of course", said Porphyrion. Of course? What did they think I was, a psychic? "Your too early for that," I said, "Today is still July 21". I said this as I looked at my watch, one of the ones Leo made for everyone. It told time, date, year, and had music. The watch said it was 10: 54 on June 21. When I finished speaking, I noticed that the minutes were going by a bit too fast, but I thought nothing of it. That was until hours went by in a matter of seconds. "What are you doing?!" I shouted at the Giant King. "I have not done anything, Jackson. It is the doing of another being, who I believe you are already acquainted with. Come out, Kronos", Porphyrion said, all too calmly. And out walked the Titan of Time.

This story is kinda a warm up for a story i plan to do after this one ends. It is a sequel, so if Nico isn't in this story, he will most definitely be in the next one.
