The Darkest Sunrise
Summary
Ian has never really been sure what his purpose in life is. His father claimed him after he watched a hell hound slaughter his mother. He is happy to accept a quest, and hopes he may find himself somewhere along the way.
Cody is angry. He was finally given a solo quest and now two new demigods come along and it's suddenly cancelled. Needless to say, he is not happy when he is assigned a new quest that includes the two of them.
They must find a way to work together. They will meet many others along their journey, making some great friends and some terrible enemies.
Point of view alternates. The narrator is identified at the start of each chapter.
Characters
Apollo
Apollo is the God of the Sun, and Tara and Will's father. He is known for his love of archery and music, and he is a strong healer.
Ares
Ares is the God of War. He is Cody and Clarisse's father. He is not known for being patient or kind.
Artemis
Artemis is the Goddess of the Moon and the Hunt. She is in charge of the Hunters of Artemis and she absolutely hates males. She is Apollo's sister and Tara's aunt.
Chiron
A centaur, Chrion is the unofficial head of Camp Half Blood. He tries to look out for the best interest of all demigods.
Clarisse La Rue
Clarisse is the daughter of Ares, the God of War, and this often comes across in her personality. She can be rather nasty when she wants to be, but she also has the ability to be loyal to the few she cares about. She is Cody's sister.
Cody
Aggression and anger are the most obvious parts of Cody, but there's more to him. The son of Ares, he is always trying to prove himself, but sometimes even he gets sick of war. He is Clarisse's brother.
Connor Stoll
A practical joker and a son of Hermes. He is Travis's full brother. Connor is easy going and funny, and he sets Tara at ease immediately.
Hermes
Hermes is the Messenger God. He is also a God of Medicine. He loves practical jokes and encourages kleptomania. He is the father or Ian, Travis, and Connor.
Ian
The speedy, funny, and compassionate son of Hermes. He and Tara become immediate friends. He also quickly bonds with his brothers Travis and Connor Stoll.
Iris
Iris is the Goddess of Rainbows and Peace. She is also a messenger Goddess. She is a hippie with issues, but can prove very helpful when needed.
Mr. D.
Mr. D. could not care less about most things. He spends his time playing cards with Chiron and trying to ignore his boring life at Camp Half Blood. Although he is the God of Wine, he cannot drink anything but Diet Coke because his father Zeus is punishing him. Once a demigod himself, Mr. D. hates being reminded of what he used to be.
Nico Di Angelo
Nico is the son of Hades and the self-proclaimed Ghost King. He is troubled and can be somewhat antisocial, but in a most unexpected turn of events, he befriends the Three along their journey and offers to help them if he can.
Rachel Elizabeth Dare
Rachel is the Oracle of Delphi. She's hyper, artistic, and possibly mildly insane. Cody is furious with her when she notifies the camp via Iris message that the quest he is on is cancelled, so when he runs into her in person, he is not happy to see her.
Stevie
Stevie is the daughter of Aphrodite and the older sister of Tim. She's 11 and very tough, determined to take charge after the death of her father in a car accident. She tries to look out for Tim and is not afraid to stand up to people, including Cody.
Tara
Tara woke up with no memories and a head injury one day and found herself being hunted by monsters. She soon learns she is the daughter of Apollo, which makes Will her brother.
Thalia Grace
Thalia is the daughter of Zeus and a Hunter of Artemis.
Tim
At 9, Tim is shy and easily frightened. He fears authority but is attached to Cody. He and his older sister Stevie are the children of Aphrodite, who she personally escorted to Camp Half Blood after their father died.
Travis Stoll
Travis is Connor's full brother, another son of Hermes who loves practical jokes. He also loves flirting shamelessly with Tara. He can be very helpful when he wants to be or very annoying at other times.
Will Solace
Will is the head of the Apollo cabin at Camp Half Blood. He is Tara's brother. He is a nice guy who is a strong healer, great musician, and talented archer.
