Thaluke Six Flags Oneshot
"it'll be fun!"
Thalia grew more and more nervous as she continued to climb a staircase. Why did she have to go up so high just to get on a ride? How tall was it? Luke had said it was fun. She felt her breath catch in her throat as she reached the boarding platform where a new group of people were just settling into their seats. She looked over the railing and let out a squeak. Luke blinked at her. "You okay?" "Yeah... uh, how tall is this thing?" "Luke shrugged. "Just watch them." Thalia nodded and pressed her lips together when the carts started rolling across the tracks, then watched in horror as they ascended further and further into the air. Climax. Silence. Then screams of glee and terror pierced her ears as the cars barreled down the tracks at a ridiculous speed. "Oh my gods." She whispered, her knees trembling slightly. Luke smiled at her. "Doesn't that look fun?" "Uh, yeah. Fun." "Come on, they're about to start boarding for the next one. I don't want us to get separated." She watched as the small train of boxes whipped around the metal structure which now looked extremely unreliable and fragile. She stared at the passengers as the little cars rolled to a stop and they removed their restraints, slowly dispensing. Luke slid his hand into hers and pulled her to the front car. Her heart leaped into her throat. He pushed down the bar and waited as the supervisors checked everyone's seats to make sure they were secure, then started the countdown from twenty. Thalia gripped the bar so hard her knuckles turned white. Sweat ran down her back. "Luke, I don't think I can do this." "What?" The little locomotive lurched forward and she went with it, exhaling sharply. "Are you okay?" She nodded rapidly, eyes fixed straight ahead. "What's wrong?" She began to inhale nonstop, never exhaling, her shoulders tense as they pitched upward and their car started to climb. "Breathe, what's wrong?" Her arms shook from holding the bar so tightly. "I'm going to fall and all that will be left is a little splat." She whispered. "I'm going to fall out of this thing." Luke's eyes widened. "Oh my gods, you're scared of heights." "Shut up! Someone will hear you!" Luke pried her hands from the bar and held them both tightly in his. "It's going to be okay." He watched as she grew more and more hysterical. "Luke, how tall is it?" "Like, three hundred feet I think." She let out a breathy crying noise and tried not to hyperventilate. The train's movement was slowing as they reached the top. Thalia lost it and started to cry uncontrollably, angry at herself for letting Luke see her like this. Then she screamed, louder than she thought she ever had before. She sobbed throughout the whole ride, and when they pulled back to the platform, she hastily swiped at her face, sending black tears flying away from her flushed cheeks. She ripped the restraints away and clambered out of the car as fast as she could, still shaking with sheer terror, ignoring Luke's offers to help. She was too embarrassed to talk to him or even look at him right now. As she yanked her leather jacket on, which she had put in a locker, he touched her arm. She spun to face him. "What?" She snapped, eyes blazing. He hesitated for a moment, then guided the trembling girl down the stairwell. "Let's go get some curly fries."
