The Librarian

Nico stared at me, his black hair flopping into his face. "What are you DOING HERE?" He hissed, eyes flashing.

"You think I came down here of my own accord?" I hissed back, rattling my bonds for a little emphasis.

"No, but you must have done something to get yourself trapped and kidnapped, then!" He was very clearly angry with me and I couldn't understand why.

"I was tricked by a mist version of Leo and Calypso, for your information. They got me into a car and then stuck me with a needle and I passed out." I said angrily. Nico just stared at me, his mouth pressed together slightly and the rest of his face tense. "Fine. Don't talk to me. Whatever."

"I can handle my own problems myself." He replied bluntly, turning his face away from me, then looking me right in the eye. "I don't need you tripping me up along the way."

My mouth dropped open and a slight squeak escaped before I felt a lump in my throat form and a single tear drop to the ground. I slid to the ground and turned my back on him, my shoulders shaking with barely controlled sobs.

"I guess I shouldn't have even bothered talking to you that first day I saw you reading my favorite book." I stuttered, my words slurred between fighting my tears. Though I was feeling betrayed and heartbroken, I needed to find a way out of here before I died.

"No." Nico sighed. "That's not what I meant."

I swallowed hard. "I doubt it." I took a deep breath, and started scanning everything around me. About a few feet away I saw a knife handle glint from it's position on a wooden table. I stood up as far as I could and craned my neck to see where it was positioned. If I could knock the table over, the knife should slide over to me.

"What are you doing?" Nico asked, watching me. I ignored him. After all, he could solve his own problems.

I looked down, and sadly they had robbed me of my shoes. "Damn." I muttered, then remembered I was wearing a heavy metal cuff around my wrist. "Hmmm..." I grunted and yanked against the chains, but they didn't give. I twisted around and saw that they were bolted to the wall.

"Kimmi?" Nico looked at me quizzically.

I yanked harder and harder, throwing my weight into it, but I couldn't free my hands, chains, or work the handcuffs over my bracelet. I screamed in frustration, raking my hands into my lavender hair.

"Oi!" A rough voice came through on the other side of the cell. "Shut yer yap, will ya?"

I whimpered, the pain from throwing myself around finally sinking in. My wrists had been cut during the process, and blood was running down my arms and dripping slowly onto the floor. "I hate this." I growled and yanked my left hand out of anger, and with a resounding screech, the chain gave away and snapped.

"Whoa. I stared at my hand in shock, turning it over to make sure that it really was free, then turned around and placed my foot on the wall next to the other chain and pulled, letting out another scream and lo and behold, the chain snapped and I fell backwards onto my back, landing on my elbows.

"Kimmi, grab the keys and get me out of these." Nico strained against his own chains. I gave him a look of loaded malice, saying "So now I'm convenient for you?"

"NO!" Nico shouted. "I didn't mean what I said. I just don't want you with me all the time because I don't want you hurt."

"Yeah, well, I'm hurt, but I'm also not chained anymore." I barred the cell door and turned around, crossing my arms and glaring at him. "So now what?"
