Nico's Confession
Nico's Confession
Nico woke up and dragged himself out of his bed in the Hades Cabin. It was three weeks past the war, and the camp still needed some fixing up after the Romans invaded and Gaea awoke. As soon as Nico got out the crooked door, he groaned. Jason was coming up to him, grinning. Today was the day Jason wanted him to confess to Percy. Nico honestly didn't want to, but Jason kept pushing him, and he had promised he would. Nico expected it to go like this: Nico confesses, and Percy tries to cover up his disgusted face. Percy and Nico never speak again. Jason told Nico time and again it wouldn't go like that, but Nico wasn't sure. He headed down to the mess hall and ate his breakfast alone, as he preferred. He was going to do it after breakfast, he decided. After a pomogranate (his favorite fruit) he spotted Percy and Annabeth laughing about something near the firepit. Of course he had to be with Annabeth. It wasn't that Nico didn't like Annabeth, it was just that, well, she...
"Nico!" Jason.
"Leave me alone, Grace. I'm gonna do it, all right?"
"Okay,okay!"
Nico took a deep breath. He turned toward Percy and Annabeth, who were chatting with Coach Hedge. He slowly walked towards them.
"Percy, can I talk to you?"
"Sure!" Percy grabbed Annabeth's arm and started walking toward Nico.
"Uh, alone?"
"Oh. All right then." He followed Nico to the lake.
"Well... I have to admit something."
"Say what you need to say!"
Nico sighed. "I've had a crush on someone since I met them."
Percy looked amused. He had probably never been asked advice about love before. "Well, who is it? I can help you confess to her."
Nico's cheeks went pink. "It's not a her, and I am confessing. I've really liked... you." The 'you' came out almost a whisper. He braced himself for the disgusted look, but it never came. Instead, there was something Nico hadn't expected to see on Percy's face: sympathy.
"Wow. I didn't.. It must of been hard to keep this to yourself for four years."
"Bianca knew. And... well, when you were in Tartarus with Annabeth, Jason and I met Cupid and I was forced to tell Jason." Percy looked behind him and saw Jason waving, a supportive smile on his face.
"Well, thanks for telling me, and we can of course still be friends."
Nico sighed with relief as Percy stood up. The confession went better than he thought it would.
