The Sword of Darkness

01.

You those moments when you wake up in the middle of the night and you realize that where you are isn't where you used to be. And I mean that metaphorically not literally. Like the world is a lot more different then you remember it.

Sure, everything still looks the same on the outside, but step into my world for a minute and you'll realize that the world I live in is a truck load of a lot more complicated then your traditional seventeen year old.

I know what you're probably saying. But Damien how can you be going through something more horrible then midterms. But Damien how could you possibly be going through something more horrible then planning for prom. Or planning for Graduation. I know all you typically seventeen year olds have your own sets of problems, but my life has your beat a million to one.

Take a bit of a history lesson real quick. When I was a toddler, I wrestled snakes in my crib. Yea, I know you're probably here scratching your head, why or how? I don't know what happened maybe they dug in through the walls or something, but it happened. But no worries just like the old man Hercules did back in his day, I strangled them with my bare hands and knotted them into a neat little bowtie.

At the age of four I had a lot of stalkers. And I know I was a cute four year old. Hell sometimes I still have to remind me people I am still cute, but stalkers at four as just as creepy as having a giant follow you to Pre-Kindergarten.

Then there was this sea creature that attacked me when I was swimming, in the shallow end might I add, when I was four. We took a trip to Montauk. It was amazing. And then a monster had to ruin it.

A massive snowball of misfortunes and horrible circumstances lead me to this place I'm at now. Don't get me wrong I love being here, amongst my friends, but somehow I just wonder what happened. Why do I have such of the rotten luck when it comes to life.

So if you've stayed this long, I might warn you right here. The rest is up to you. Do you want to take part in a story that is filled with monsters, chaos, love, betrayal, bad parenting and the occasional curse words. Then by all means keep on scrolling away. If you're looking for a happy ending and a princess, then I might have to advise you go look at some Disney movie because in this story there aren't any happy endings.

It's just a long awaited oh so this is what life is like as a demigod kinda realization. But anyways I've been rambling on and on for a while haven't I.

Let's back track a bit more. Not too far back just hit the rewind button and I'll tell you when to stop.

Okay. Stop now!

My day began in the worst of ways. I woke up to a flying horse bursting into my cabin and waking me up. Now about me what you should know is that I'm not the average teenager. I think I've already told you as such. I can speak to this horse.

Not horses. Not plural. This isn't the story of Percy Jackson. That you can go read in your local library for free. But if you ever have a few bucks to spare on some books buy the entire series. It's five books of awesomeness that you'll enjoy.

I keep side tracking. Where was I? Oh yea. I can speak to this horse. Well he's not a horse. He's a Night. I call him that because he's a child of Erebus. The Primordial of Darkness. Go figure huh? A God can have a horse for a kid. Stranger things have happened. Did you ever hear the story about Chiron's conception, it's a pretty fun one really. Maybe another time.

"Bro! Bro!" The Night called as he nagged and whined as he galloped about the cabin. I rose up in a frantic scream, as I rubbed my eyes and gave him a look with civil discontent.

"What is it, Champ? It's three o'clock in the morning, can't this wait?"

"There's this big problem with the stables!" He insisted.

I took a deep breath, and rose out of the bed and made my way out of the cabin.

Then thing about camp, was that it was a bit small but the distance from the site to the stables was easily an Acer.

When we got there there was this black column of darkness around the stables and all the creatures were being contained and suffocated.

"How'd you get out?" I wondered.

"It's made out of darkness." Champ snickered. His voice was as annoying in my head as his neigh were out loud.

"Okay, so why would someone use darkness against the stables."

In a sudden explosion, the earth shook as the sky illuminated and a pole fell from the sky at the center of the cabins.

I raced over to see a cord forming. I glanced at Wade who was already examining it.

Wade was this big guy, he was often wearing red pants and a red shirt, but since he was sleeping he had on deadpool pj's.

"What is it?" I wondered.

"A message, Erebus has issued a challenge. He wants us to retrieve his weapon. And he feels like one of us did it."

"Did what?" I asked again.

In a swift snack upside the head, I jerked forward as Erica emerged to my right. "Think about it, boulder brain, Erebos is thinking that one of us stole his weapon, and he wants that person to retrieve it and give it back.

"Then who's the person?" I murmured as I stepped forward.

Wade frowned. He couldn't read the language but he knew one thing the first letter was D.

"Erica?" He murmured as he stepped aside.

It didn't take that long for her to decipher the messaged and then smiled. "Damien Blake, it looks like it's your Quest."

I smirked. "Cool, but there's just one thing. I didn't do anything."

Everyone murmured and muster amongst themselves.

"We can discuss this all in the morning, for now everybody back to bed. We have training at 9 am sharp!" Wade announced as the crowd began to dispurse.

@A.D.R.

I might have to redo the entire chapter and start with a much more concrete idea for the story, but I've been with this idea for about 4 to 6 months so I'm sure I'll finish this mini story quick enough.

But thanks for the support. Something might change, although the overall story isn't going to be too far off from where it is now.
