Starcrossed

Two

"I love you..."

Those three little words can do wonders to the human body, make it do impossible stunts, make butterflies soar through your stomach. I love you..., that small sentence can make you want to back flip off the eiffel tower or swim the nile at night. Those words make you feel on top of the world, soaring through the stars, floating through the milky way, tumbling around the galaxies, reading the stars.

I first heard those words a few short days ago. I wanted to do all of those things, I wanted to shout it from the rooftop, She loves me! My one true love, the first girl I ever had eyes for, the only girl I ever really had eyes for, Annabeth, The name sounds so perfect when it rolls of my tongue, like it was made to be her.

She is literally the other half of me, the half that I would have no idea what to do without. That one piece of me that keeps me at bay, keeps me grounded when I would rather be surfing the stars. That half of me that holds me together.

When we defeated Gaea less than a week ago, things got a lot more serious. I've realised that I actually need her in my life. She is my one love.

Today we are supposed to have a normal day at camp but so close after the Giant war I doubt people will want to be studying. I also know for a fact that people are waiting for the next great prophecy. We remember that the giant war was predicted not to long after the titan war.

Personally I hope that the next prophecy has nothing to do with me and I can live happily ever after with Annabeth, we've done our hero bits in the world.

Yes that may sound cheesy and cliche, but hey, it's cliche because it's true.

I turn over in my bunk and roll out and flop onto the floor with loud thud. I groan and try to pick myself up but I really can't be bothered. I lay on the floor staring at the ceiling and other random objects in my dorm until a beautiful smell catches me off guard. I breathe in the heavenly sent and grin. Cooked Breakfast!

Oh dammit. If I want cooked breakfast I have to get up. I really want it but is it tempting enough to get up?

Yes. It is.

Slowly I push my arms up so I'm in a cobra position. I sigh and am tempted to lay back down but I force myself to keep going in order to get food. When I reach my feet I silently cheer to myself. I head for the door but a beautiful melodic voice stops me in my tracks,

"You may want clothes," She speaks. I glance down a realize with a blush that I was about to walk out in my Aquaman boxers.

"Hmm you seem to be right," I say back cheekily.

"I'm always right, you know that," she says back coming from the side of the cabin.

"Do I?" I teasily question.

"Yup!" She smiles coming in for a kiss. Annabeth. My beautiful and brilliant, Wise girl. She seems to be holding back a bit though. Oh well, probably means nothing.

"Now let me get changed, I have a cooked breakfast waiting," I try shoo her away.

"Do you?" She smirks. I look at her questionly,

"Yea..." I start but am interrupted by the same heavenly smell from earlier. She pulls a plate from behind her back,

"Nope! I brought it to you!" She says happily. Now this must be the best thing of the entire morning!

"So I got off the floor for nothing?" I ask with a happy sigh.

"The floor?...you know, I actually don't want to know," she giggles and we walk back to my bed.

To cut to the chase, the cooked breakfast consisted of; toast, an egg, two hash browns, spaghetti, a sausage and a cooked tomato. A very New Zealand breakfast.

It was amazing. But in saying that, when is food not amazing?

"Chiron actually wants to see us," she tells me when I finish.

"Ok," I reply grabbing her hand and leaning in for a kiss,

"Eww, not until you've brushed your teeth, egg-breath," she cringes away from me.

What a tease.

"Whatever," I say grumpily heading off to the bathroom.

When we reach the big house I see that Annabeth's father has been let in and he's standing there with Chiron. How on earth did he get in here?

Instantly Annabeth runs forward and hugs him. He wraps his arms tightly around his 18 year old daughter and picks her up.

He's strong. I muse to myself.

"What are you doing here dad?" She questions him with a smile.

"I'm here to take you home," he replies to my shock. My mouth falls open and so does Annabeth's but she quickly regains her composure,

"Well I guess Percy and I could..." she starts but is cut off by her father.

"I'm here to take YOU home," with emphasis the you. He tells her almost too nicely. Annabeth grows a frown on her face and I can tell that she's not happy one bit.

I'm pretty sure that I'm mirroring her expression though because I know, I'm not happy with this.

"What! I'm not leaving Percy!" She complains throwing her hands up into the air. I'm about to butt in on their argument and say there's no way I'm letting her go when Chiron taps me on the shoulder and pulls me away.

"Percy, you know Annabeth's dad only wants what's...." He trails off before I interrupt him.

"No! She's 18, she's an adult! She can legally choose where she wants to be!" I argue with him.

"Percy, she's only 18 and you're only 17!" He practically shouts at me. I look him squarely in the eyes and tell him that there's no way I'm letting her out of my sight ever again.

Annabeth storms over to me and grabs my wrist, "Come on Percy." She pulls me away without saying goodbye and charges out the door with me in tow.

"They'll get over it." I try to calm her down but she's not listening to me. In fact she's on a mission, heading somewhere and not looking to slow down.

"No he won't!" She cries and spins around to face me, her hair whipping backwards and tears flying off her checks. "He told me I've got a week before he comes back," she confesses to me barely getting the sentences out. "And then he's taking me, no matter what." She says gravely and it almost frightens me. I reach out and wrap my arms around her letting her tears sink into my shirt.

What started out as the perfect day is now one of the worst days ever.

"He's hiding something from me." She says suddenly looking up at me.

"What?" I ask confused. What would he hide from her?

"I'm not sure but it's serious," She pauses and dries her tears, "I can just tell."

"Well," I begin running my hands through her soft, blonde hair, "No matter what, I had a great breakfast." I joke. Annabeth looks at me sternly in the eyes and punches me. As if she's saying, this is no time for jokes.

"I'm serious Percy, our life is about to change and not in a good way." She tells me and I have a sinking feeling in my gut, knowing she's right.
