In the story books, the Greek gods are supposed to be some of the most astonishing beings to have ever walked the Earth. They control the seas, the sky, the earth underneath your feet, and the underground below. But for some reason, they can't seem to take care of their own children.

well, I usually get my ideas from songs. If you want to write about an original character, it's easier to come up with them before the storyline. You can take certain ideas from the books, or other books and movies, combining all of them into a new story. If you'd like to write about a ship, I've got no chance with helping you, I've never tried writing that :)
