Powerful Secret
The Dream
His push hurt, but the water didn't. You know when you jump in a pool and you hit the water flat. It hurts like hell. It didn't happen this time, the water seemed to act like a pillow and cushion my fall. I don't know why I have never experienced it before. I recalled Percy telling me he could breath underwater, but I wasn't too hesitant to try it. I did open my eyes, and I could see much better than I expected. There was no fog from the silt I moved when I hit the bottom of the lake. I saw human-like figures and they waved. I waved back, and kicked off the bottom of the lake.
A fish swam by “Watch where you're going” I heard in my head. I gulped in surprise. Oh no! I thought. I was expecting water to fill my lungs, and I would drown. Instead I inhaled and breathed. I stupidly did it again. I breathed and didn't die. I was in total shock, then I remembered my rib. It rib felt much better after 2 minutes of being submerged, so I swam to the surface. I tried to will the water to push me up but I couldn't do it. Who would have thought it would be hard to control a liquid with your mind? It took five seconds to reach the top. (I was only pushed off the dock so it wasn't that deep)I exited the lake completely dry, and walked over to my cabin. I knocked expecting Percy to ignore me. He actually opened it. He also wrapped one of his arms around me and yanked me inside. Once I was inside he quickly shut the door.
“What's going on?” I asked.
“We need to talk about tomorrow.” He said. I turned around to face the rest of the room. I saw Annabeth on a bed looking very nervous.
“What's going on tomorrow?” I asked.
“Well you need to know how to use a weapon for the quest. What do you want to learn how to use?” Annabeth asked as she stood up and walked over to Percy.
“Everything.” I said.
“That's not possible.” Percy said.
“Sure it is.” I said “If we get stuck somewhere I want to be able to use all of my resources.” I said.
“Ok well lets just focus on one.” Percy responded.
“Fine, let's do…” I paused and thought. I thought back to when I was younger. Around the age of nine my mom made me take archery. I took it for five years. I am pretty good with a bow. Now I realize why she made me take those lessons. I thought I should show those skills to Percy. “Let’s try archery.” I said. They exchanged glances at each other.
“Are you sure archery is hard, and I don't know how long we have till the quest.” Percy said.
“I learned it as a kid. So it's better not to let those skills go to waste, right?” I asked them while smiling my bright smile.
“Whatever you think is best.” Annabeth said. Then she yawned. “I'm going to go to my cabin now so I can get some rest.”
“Ok” Percy said. Annabeth leaned in to kiss Percy on the cheek, but he turned his head. They kissed each other. It made my heart ache. It wasn't a super long kiss, but after a couple of seconds Annabeth slowly made her way out the door. Once she was out of sight Percy closed the door.
“Archery, seriously?” Percy said dumbstruck. I didn't think he would drop this anytime soon.
“Yes, seriously.” I replied.
“You should try sword fighting.” Percy said.
“No.” I replied quickly.
“But you already know how to use a bow, try to learn something new.”
“Fine!” I screamed. Percy smiled like I just made his day. “Do you know why I want you to learn sword fighting?” Percy asked.
“No.” I said truthfully.
“It's because it is the most beneficial thing to learn. You don't have to load a bow or aim.” He said.
“Ok but I have to be close and personal.” I replied. “How about I try archery for an hour or so. Then I will join you and try a sword.” I said to amuse him. Percy smiled and hugged me.
"That would be perfect.” He said. “Oh and Tyson should be here soon, and just an FYI he snores, loudly.”
“Thanks.” I said. Percy sat down on the bottom bunk, of the middle bed. There one one bunk bed on each side of it. There was one in the corner of the room, and one on the right. I chose the one on the right. I sat down, and removed my shoes and socks. Then I got under the covers.
“Aren't you going to change?” Percy asked me.
“No, this is actually quite comfy.” I said. I thought that I heard him mumble something under his breath. But I couldn't tell what he had said. Within a few seconds I fell asleep. I had a dream as well. I was in a dark room, but it felt much, much larger than a room. There was an omniscient glow from torches on top of poles, like you would see at a barbecue. In this “room” there was a stage. On this stage was one giant cyclops, speaking to many other cyclopes. It was like “The Force Awakens” scene where the imperial soldiers were commanding the stormtroopers, right before they blew up planets. The one speaking, his eye was scarred and he appeared blind, but still terrifying.
“The human race has abandoned us for too long!” He screamed. “Many of us grew up on the streets, alone and in need! No one has helped us! We need to get our revenge!” They all screamed. “I Polyphemus will lead us to victory!” The screaming got louder.
Then they started cheering “DIE, HUMANS DIE! DIE, HUMANS DIE!” Over and over again. Then the ground started to shake, and I realised Percy was shaking me awake. I sat straight up, and almost hit my head on the top bunk.
“Are you okay?” He asked me.
“Yeah. I just have one question. Who is Polyphemus?”
